Bollywood Stars Teach For Change Announce The Nationwide Expansion Of Joint Literacy Program To Eight Indian Cities

Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the software company empowering digital transformation at the world’s leading enterprises, and Teach for Change, a non-profit organization developing English language and leadership skills among under-privileged children, has jointly announced the national expansion of their literacy program to bring quality education to millions of school children (grades 3-5) across primary government schools in India. The ‘Teach for Change’ movementcollaborates with state governments to improve the literacy rates and life skills of primary school childrenin municipal schools. It was co-founded by Lakshmi Manchu andChaitanya MRSK in 2014 and aims to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 4 is Quality Education).

The programme, already present in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Vijaywada and Vizag, will now expand to Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennaiand Lucknow, successfully operating in eight cities.Thousands of committed citizens across cities volunteer to teach children in their neighbourhood government schools. With this, the goal of the literacy program is to positively impact 1,50,000 children across 1,000 schools in India.

The well-attended event was attended by prolific names such as Member of Rajya Sabha Jaya Bachchan, Member of Rajya Sabha Renuka Chowdhury, Member of Parliament Moon Moon Sen, Politician Geeta Reddy, Padmashri Awardee Mohan Babu, as well as member from the Indian film and fashion fraternity including Aditi Rao Hydari, Sunil Sethi, Taapsee Pannu, Rakul Preet Singh, Rhea Chakrobarty, Regina Cassandra, Sooraj Pancholi, Kubra Sait etc. Co-Founder & CEO Chaitanya MRSK says, “I am thrilled to see what started as an individual effort in 2014 is now a nationwide movement with 3000 volunteers. We welcome individuals who have the passion for teaching and are keen on making a difference in the Indian education sector to join us. We are striving for quantifiable breakthroughs in the academic system.”
