The film revolves around Nels Coxman (Liam Neeson), who  is a snowplow driver and upstanding citizen in the small town of Kehoe, Colorado, whose 20-something son Kyle (Michael Richardson) is murdered by goons working for a slick, stuck-up Denver drug lord nicknamed “Viking” (Tom Bateman). Nels Coxmansets off on a spree of vengeance, setting out to kill the drug mafia that murders his young son and is based on the 2014 Norwegian film 'In Order of Disappearance'.

There is undoubtedly a sort of visceral quality to the kills — they’re brutal, and bloody — but he remains soft-spoken, almost businesslike to the point of dispatching the dead bodies with offhand efficiency, wrapping each of his victims up in chicken wire and tossing them off a nearby ravine.

The movie seems bizarrely funny and the snow-heavy setting creates the right atmosphere for the dry and cold-cut humor. Though the film seems to be initially a predictable thriller, centering on a wronged father and his pursuit for vigilante justice, what follows is a series of first rate stylized killing sequences that almost seem like parodies of chilling action set pieces.

It would not be wrong to say that the slick film is a cool black-comedy that does wonders for the genre, by refreshingly blending sardonic humor with cold-blooded killings making it reminiscent of movies like The Coen Brothers’ Fargo and Guy Ritchie’s Snatch.

May be because one of the producers is an Indian called Ameet Shukla, the goons the main villain is perpetually surrounded by are colorfully named Speedo, Limbo, Shiv and Mustang. The film’s villain called Viking is played with chewing hilarity by Tom Bateman, who is just as menacing as he is idiotic.
