Touching and Riveting!

Neelkanth Chaturvedi( Lalit Parimoo), a 55 year old constable in Bilaspur Central Jail, who has a small family, wife Jyoti and daughter Anu. When her marriage is fixed, Anu insists that her father to the town fare as she wants to purchase what she wants. Sadly she is killed by the dacoits in an encounter at the fare. Neelkanth’s duty is to serve food to the prisoners. The soft hearted Neelkant who has never raised his hand on any criminal though he is in police service comes across Padam, the Naxalite who has killed his daughter in a mela. Whether he is able to curtail his fatherly instincts in the line of duty or avenge his daughter's death forms the crux of this out of the box story.

Lalit Parimoo deserves kudos for etching out his character with flesh and blood and making you empathize with him on the loss of his daughter. Abhishek Pandey grimaces and overacts while Sheetal Dimri as Neelkanth’s demure wife is good. On the flipside, at times the execution of the film is tacky with flashback inside flashback and the director opting for a non- linear flow of the story.

Kathor proves that you can bank on rich content and score with your film especially since it has been made in a span of just 15 days on a shoe string budget of just 35 lakhs. It is a touching and riveting film, which, if only in place of Lalit Parimoo and Abhishek Pandey, there were bigger stars like say Amitabh Bachchan and Ashutosh Rana would have worked wonders at the box office.
