To raise funds for Cancer and Thalassemic patients Ghazal Maestro Padmashree Pankaj Udhas, Anup Jalota,  Rekha Bharadwaj, Javed Ali,Harshdeep kaur, Shilpa Rao, Pratibha singh baghel, Sudeep Banerjee, Vidhi Sharma, Sameer Pandit to performe together at the annual event that provides a rare opportunity for Ghazal aficionados to experience the rich and vibrant performances of India’s top performers on 26th and 27th July, 2019 at the Regal Room, Trident Nariman Point, Mumbai at 7.30 PM onwards Every Day

18th Khazana Ghazal Festival also showcase a special act by Samarpan band  featuring Singer Priyanka barve and a unique act curated by Maithili Thakur featuring Rishav Thakur & Ayachi Thakur, Khazana Talent Hunt Winner - Joydeepta Bandyopadhyay - Talent hunt winner 1 (From Kolkatta)  And Sohini Singha Mojumdar - Talent hunt winner 2 (From Kolkatta).

Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) and Parents' Association Thalassemic Unit Trust (PATUT), Mumbai, have been organising the annual fund raising  event every year. Pankaj  Udhas is the president of the PATUT.

Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas , who has been closely associated with the initiative said the event has enabled bone marrow transplant for 250 children in the last few years. The veteran singer said around 5 per cent of one lakh children screened for Thalasemia Minor disorder were found positive. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin. Thalassemia minor is a less serious form of the disorder.The noted singer said that the bone marrow treatment cures the child of the genetically-transmitted disorder.

He further said that  “It gives me immense pleasure to announce the celebrations of 18 years of Khazana. Hence we decided on the apt theme of 18th Khazana Ghazal Festival as Mehboob – Eternal Love. I take this opportunity to thank Oberoi, all the artists, sponsors and the audience, for their full- hearted support from the bottom of my heart. I hope and am also confident that this year also the show will prove to be a resounding success as in the past."

He Further said that , Khazana is a unique phenomenon of celebration of ghazals to raise funds for thalassemic children and cancer patients and it's unbelievable how this has worked over a period of time. Whats interesting is that this is the second edition of the ‘Khazana Artist Aloud Talent Hunt’ – India’s first and only talent hunt for ghazal singers.  The contest saw tremendous participation from 75 cities across India. From Mumbai to Pratapgarh, Delhi to Vidisha and Bengaluru to Sitamarhi, and the judges saw immense talent in small and big cities alike. The participants were judged by an esteemed jury consisting of Pankaj Udhas, Rekha Bhardwaj,  Talat Aziz, Anup Jalota and Sudeep Banerjee which was spread across 2 rounds. The 2 winners will get an opportunity to now perform at the eagerly awaited Khazana Ghazal festival 2019.

Says Rekha Bhardwaj, It’s a great feeling to be associated with Khazana every year. With Khazana Ghazal Festival the popularity of ghazals is increasing and that it will never fade away despite people's interest in western music.. Khazana Ghazal Festival  should go to metro cities, small cities where there are so many people who are listening to your music."

Says Anup Jalota, ‘Khazana – a Festival of Ghazals is a movement now it  is a concept over Eighteen years old, which began as a platform to raise funds for for Cancer and Thalassemic patients and also for young Ghazal artists to showcase their talent to an audience that appreciates their musical talent.

The proceeds of the two evenings will be used towards the continued care and rehabilitation of patients suffering from Cancer and Thalassemia.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Cancer Patients Aid Association and Parents Association Thalassemic Unit Trust ( PATUT)After the resounding success of last year’s concert, the aim this year is to raise funds to the tune of Rs 1 crore. The Oberoi, Mumbai, along with Pankaj Udhas, once again join hands with these two organizations to mark another milestone in this endeavor
