The show narrates the transformational tale of Ganesha from Vigna child to the ‘Pratham Devta’. To bring alive the best facial animation, the makers have used the most advanced and cutting-edge Mo-Cap (motion capture and animatronics) technology for the first time ever on Indian Television.

On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh festival, the makers of Vighnaharta Ganesh will now regale audiences with short unknown facts in the form of short videos about Lord Ganesh’s life. The same shall be telecast every day after the episode is aired for a span of few minutes to enlighten viewers. Few examples of lesser known facts about Vighnaharta Ganesh are listed below -

 1) Why is Durva grass presented to Lord Ganesh?

Durva was a devout bhakt of Ganesha. She wanted to be with him in whichever form possible and so Parvati blessed her and turned her into Durva grass. Once when Ganesha devoured Arnalasur, his body temperature shot up and Parvati offered Durva which calmed the Lord.

2) Why is Lord Ganesh also termed as ‘Ekdant’?

Shiv and Parvati were attending a puja and Ganesha had been delegated the duty to not let anyone enter the Pooja sthaan for as long as the puja was on. Shiva’s bhakt Pashuram reached Kailash and wanted to meet Shiva and got into a fight with Lord Ganesh which resulted in a broken tooth due to an axe attack. Hence, the name of Ekdant.

3) How did Lord Ganesh get the head of an elephant?

Ganesha (then called Vinayak) had been asked to stand guard at the door while Parvati was taking a shower. He had been not to let anyone enter till the time she was done. To honor his mother’s wish, Vinayak stopped Shiva and his troops when they came back to Kailash, a fierce battle ensued between Vinayak and Shiva’s ganas, the different devs and even Brahma and Vishnu. At the end of the battle, Shiva threw his trident at the boy and beheaded him. In order to calm Parvati, Shiva promised her that he would get a new head for Vinayak. The gods found a baby elephant and brought its head to Shiva. This then became Vinayak’s new head which also earned him the title of ‘Gajmukh’.
