The Accidental Prime Minister Movie Review

One of the controversial movie of the year 2019 is here, The Accidental Prime Minister starring Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna in the lead. The Accidental Prime Minister starring Anupam Kher is based on the book of the same name by Sanjaya Baru. The film revolves around the time when Manmohan Singh served as the Prime Minister of India. The film saw some controversy as few opposition party members saw it as a misinterpretation of the truth. Few have also called this a propaganda film because of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, the film also stars Akshaye Khanna in a pivotal role. Let us tell you how it went for us.

Story : The story as mentioned above revolves around Dr Manmohan Singh and his party during his tenure and how it tells us that between 2004 and 2014, India had a weak Prime Minister who was remote-controlled by the Congress president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, played here by German-born actress Suzanne Bernert. The story would be wooed by the supports of BJP and would be Boo-ed by the Congress supporters as they are doing it already with cases filed against the director and actors of defamation. Keeping the political part aside, let us move forward to the review.

Performance : One thing that should be commanded is the performances of the actors. Anupam Kher has put his heart and soul to the movie but the one man who keeps on taking the limelight is none other than Akshaye Khanna who brings out stoic humour into play, with the script requiring him to turn to the camera every now and then and share insider dope as he plays Sanjaya Baru who has written the memoir of The Accidental Prime Minister during the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh.

Direction and Editing : The Director should be applauded or not again depends on whose side are you on and which party do you support but the editor have played his part well, with crisp editing and a shorter run-time, it makes the movie watchable for all.

To Conclude, If you are into current affairs and like being a part of a political chat, go for this one but if you want some entertainment, you can surely miss out this one. Just for the sake of Making a movie, hard work and the performances, I would rate this movie as 2.5/5.
