The Girls On The Go To Get There...

Suddenly, it seems like girls like Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Shraddha Kapoor and even some big girls like Kareena Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, and even Deepika Padukone belong to another generation and there is a new generation of very young girls all set to take over from them, and there is enough evidence to prove that they are. A group of very young, very talented, very sensitive and very pretty are staking their claim for places in the sun.

Leading them all is Alia Bhatt who I had seen as the dream of two lovers, Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan,a love story that was born during the making of“Saaransh"and had ended with Mahesh Bhatt taking a Muslim name and taking Soni Razdan as his second wife. Their relationship led to the birth of Alia who was brought up as a typical Bombay girl with no towering ambitions.....

She made her debut in films as a child artist in“Sangharsh"which was one of the many films that came out of the Bhatt filmmaking company. There were still no signs about her making it as a leading lady, till she was one of the youngest leading ladies in Karan Johar's“Student Of The Year"and there has been no stopping her. This is not an attempt to trace her history in films she has done till now, but it is more than clear now that she is running way ahead in the race of the new girls out to save Hindi Cinema. She has all the plum films being made by all the leading filmmakers and she will soon be seen in“Kalank"and then make it really big when she will be seen in the company of Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and other big stars in“Brahmastra". She is already in a very deep relationship with Ranbir Kapoor and it has to be seen what shape destiny gives to this relationship and whether it will affect the career of Alia who many of her admirers and fans believe is too young to tie the knot which can be quite a knotty affair for a girl who is determined to make it big as an actress and could find the going tough if she takes a decision to handle her career and a marriage at her age which her mother says is twenty-six and it is for her to let the world know what she is really capable of.....

One more girl who has almost come in from out of the blue is Sara Ali Khan, the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and his former wife and actress Amrita Singh. Sara is perhaps the first young heroine to have back to back big releases like“Kedarnath"and“Simba"which have proved good as films and also as business propositions. She is one actress who knows how to go about her career and some of the statements she has been making have also proved that she has a head very much on her shoulders. Sara is certainly one girl who is going to keep all the other girls on tenterhooks.

Great things have been expected of Jhanvi Kapoor after her debut-making film“Dhadak"and she is apparently being very careful about choosing her next films and the only thing heard about her till now it's that she is interested in doing a horror film. I only hope that a sweet girl like her doesn't fall a victim to doing a film which can or cannot do good to her career, but the basic fact that goes for her is that she is the kind of actress who has the ability to last long. There are also talks about her younger sister, Khushi making her debut, but there is nothing to show how serious she is about following in her sister's footsteps.

Just a few days ago, Pranutan, the grand-daughter of the veteran actress Nutan made her debut in a Salman Khan Production“Notebook"and there have not been very exciting reactions to her appearance or her performance till date, but it is young actresses like her who can still seize the opportunities that come her way and make the best of it and reach out to touch new skies of success....

Two girls who were expected to strike it big, Fatima Sanas Sheikh and Zahirra Khan had to face initial setbacks because of their first film not doing very well, but with girls like these, one can never say.....

I have been seeing some of the best girls reaching for the stars and reaching there and some falling by the wayside even before they can genuinely prove their worth and I feel extremely sorry for them and yet there are thousands of such girls walking around this dream city of Mumbai in the hope of Mumbai and its dreams and taking them into its arms which attract them and yet reject or neglect them....

If my long experience still matters, I can see one more generation of girls waiting in the wings to take their places on the stage of stardom. Leading them all in this race which has still to begin is Suhana Khan, the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri. Her parents have given her the go ahead signal and it is now to be seen whether her parents launch her or one of their influential friends launches her. It will be only a matter of months before we will be faced with a face that could launch a million ships. The other girl who is already in the game is Ananya Pandey, the daughter of Chunky and Bhavna Pandey. It is still too early to say anything about Ira Khan, the daughter of Aamir Khan and his first five, Reena. And it is no less a grandfather than Amitabh Bachchan who says he can already see the makings of an actress in Aaradhya, the daughter of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. If one looks around with open eyes at the families of some of the ruling stars, I am sure you will see little kids in prams and on see-saws and swings who could be the stars of the future....

All that is a very healthy sign and even as I write, I wonder if the sons of Hrithik Roshan and the daughters of some of the actresses of his generation like Nysa, the daughter of Kajol and Ajay will make it to a place where her parents have reached today....

And as I keep thinking about these kids of today as the hope of tomorrow, I wonder what Kangana Ranaut, the one-woman crusader against nepotism will have to say about this new phenomenon which can be good, but I like Kangana wonder if all the opportunities go to the dynasties, then what about the thousands of girls in acting schools and academies, geniune or fake and all those girls and their parents who believe their children are as talented as any of these starkids? Will their future be as bright and as secure as the kids who live a royal life and have never and will never have to struggle to reach where star-kids have always reached and will always reach?
