The Lux #Heforshe Movement Gets Momentum After Srk; Bollywood Biggies Like Varun Dhawan And Ayushmann Khurrana Extend Their Support

The Lux Golden Rose Awards have become an iconic symbol of celebrating the beauty, style, glamour and achievement of the most beautiful women in Bollywood.

Shahrukh Khan pledged his support for the movement and called out to the industry and fans to follow suit. Known among Bollywood’s finest gentlemen- the charming Varun Dhawan and Ayushmann Khurrana have come forward and will be pledging their support for HeForShe at Lux Golden Rose Awards this year to set an example for the fraternity’s men and fans alike. Joing the Bollywood boys are TV’s famous names Nakuul Mehta (Ishqbaaz) where onscreen he plays a supportive husband who believes in equality, Mohit Malik who plays a father who gives daughters dreams wings (Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala).

Commenting on pledging his support, Varun Dhawan says, “We will be healthy and flourishing as a creative industry only when our women are not silenced or their potential cramped. I applaud Lux Golden Rose Awards to use their platform to extend support to the global HeForShe cause and would like to extend my unflinching support for this necessary movement. Only when we come together can we make a difference.”

While Varun was happy at joining the bandwagon for HeForShe at Lux Golden Rose Awards, actor Ayushmann Khurrana was equally delighted.

Ayushmann Khurrana commented, “As a part of the industry, it is our responsibility and not a choice to make the space we work in safe, equal and encouraging for growth for one and all. HeForShe states just that- standing in solidarity for positive change. In my personal experience I have seen the kind of honesty and hard work, my female co-actors have put in her performance, and if they are not given due credit then it is a pity for us and the industry as a whole. Not far behind are TV screens favorite personalities who have set shining examples on screen for standing shoulder to shoulder with women and celebrating their uniqueness.

Actor Mohit Malik said– “I am surrounded by talented and extra-ordinary women at my workplace. I am tremendously happy to be a part of HeforShe movement and would like to thank Lux Golden Rose Awards to bring to attention this cause”

His contemporary, Nakuul Mehta also had a strong view to share on being a part of the cause “We talk about the unfair deal meted out to women across industries but concrete steps taken are few. Lux Golden Rose Awards as a platform is huge and it is exciting to see a legend like SRK come forward and pledge his support. Just like Bollywood, there are many powerful women centric role in the TV segment but the women haven’t got their dues yet. I pledge my support through my roles on screen and off screen to take this forward in my industry. It is huge privilege for me to extend my support #HeForShe”

‘HeforShe’ is launched by UN as a global initiative where the men pledge to stand in solidarity with women and face gender inequality together.
