According to a leading daily, when question was asked to the girls about reducing the meaning of women empowerment to acting like a man, to this Sonam replied to the question strongly.

"It's completely misconstrued, what the meaning on women empowerment is. It's a choice, right? We are four different characters in the film. For example, my character Avni barely abuses, but when she does, she does. And there's nothing wrong with it."

Taking the conversation forward, when question was asked on calling out misogynistic bollywood films, Sonam again took the charge and said, "There was this film, Pyaar ka Punchnama, and a lot of the dialogues in the film was very misogynistic. And people have celebrated that film, and nobody has once said, "Don't you think you are being a little misogynistic by talking about how women are a certain way, and how men are looked at as commitment-phobic and how women are desperate to get married?"

When ladies were asked about the women of Bollywood making a statement about equality, like the west, it was again Sonam who replied to the question but this time the other Veere Kareena had a bit different thought than Sonam.

Sonam said, "With Veere, we have moved a stepped forwad but there is a long way to go for all our industries to be like, "Okay, women need to be treated a certain way, they need to be paid a certain amount, they need to get equal opportunity, the same working conditions.""

Kareena taking the conversation further said, "I see a tremedous difference though. I would like to differ a little bit from Sonam because we did have actress like Waheeda Rahman, Sharmila Tagore, Rekhaji, who did do women-centric films."

There's no one more out there, who's gone against every possible tide, other than Vidya Balan," she added.

Veere di Wedding is going to hit the theatres on June 1, 2018.
