The 18th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) organized by Pune Film Foundation and Maharashtra Government is going to kick-start tomorrow (Thursday, January 9). The inauguration ceremony of the festival will take place at Balgandharva Rangamandir, Jangli Maharaj Road at 5 pm tomorrow.

In this event, the creator of the popular TV series CID and FTII Chairman, B. P. Singh and national award winner veteran actor, Vikram Gokhale are going to be honored with the prestigious PIFF Distinguished Award. Also, this year’s S. D. Burman International Award for Creative Music and Sound will be conferred upon music director Usha Khanna.The awards will be given at the hands of Amit Deshmukh, Minister of Cultural Affairs, Maharashtra.

This information is given by Dr. Jabbar Patel, Director, PIFF. The leading actors of TV series CID- Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava and Dayanand Shetty, renowned Marathi actors Subodh Bhave and Mukta Barve will remain present for the ceremony.

The Argentinean movie ‘The Weasel’s Tale’ directed by Juan José Campanella will be shown after the inauguration ceremony at NFAI Law College Road and NFAI Kothrud as the opening film of PIFF.
