0 281

As the Met Gala buzz sporadically reaches the Fashion geeks , we must not forget about the moments when, Indian beauties stunned us with their looks on the international red carpets. These looks might serve someone as a meme stock or may have made some feel proud of the international dominance India have been enjoying lately. Some looks made for terrible optics while some stemmed the influx of overwhelming nerves that compelled us to say a big WOW! We are here to take a look at some of the Indian divas we couldn’t take our eyes off of.

Shabana Azmi

Shabana Azmi floored us with her simplicity at the Cannes in 1976, accompanied by Director Shyam Benegal and actor Smita Patel for the  Hindi film Nishant. Today, the Fashion police might scathingly rant the looks Bollywood beauties pull over but, Shabana Azmi with this picture she reminded us how Cannes at that time were more about films and less about fashion. While Shyam is wearing a full sleeved t-shirt and a waist coat, Shabana and Smita are the epitome of simplicity in their gorgeous sarees. There was no posing for the paparazzis as the three of them give a true meaning to what a candid looks like.

Deepika Padukone

It’s certain if we were to talk about a list of beauties who made us proud on the international red carpets , Deepika Padukone is a name one can never forget. Initiating her fashionable journey from 2016 at Cannes in a white embroided saree she has come a long way stupefying us all with her 2019 MET Gala look. She has shut down all her crtics  who labelled her looks as ‘Boring’ with her Ruffled pink gown from Ashi studios in Cannes 2019 which relished Queen B, Beyonce as well, who wore the same dress in one of her concerts.

Priyanka Chopra

From Billboards to Oscars to Met Gala , Priyanka Chopra came, she saw and she undoubtedly conquered the red carpets. No wonder why she served as a hot  meme topic everytime she tried her new looks, one cannot deny the reality, that our ‘Desi Girl’ has become an international Bollywood face who brought in a lot of pride and recognition for the country. Rocking her supremely bold and lavishly beautiful outfits we were in complete ‘awe’ of her and hubby Nick Jonas who gave us real- life couple goals. Her recent  2019 Met Gala look brazenly earned scornful remarks but she handled  the criticism as graceful as a fashionista should.

Aishwarya Rai

The global icon is so flawless that it must be a Herculean task to design anything that would do her justice. Add her penchant for diplomacy and an icy cool image and any designer is set to fail. It’s perhaps because of her stunning looks, and not despite them, that the actress has faltered many a time  on the red carpet.  But a look at her Cannes appearances over the years will show you that with baby missteps the gorgeous actress has finally got her style sensibilities in line with international trends. She has been ruling the Cannes for the past 15 years . The    beauty queen made her Cannes debut in 2002 at the premiere of Devdas . Accompanied by her director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and leading man Shah Rukh Khan, she went the traditional route. But, since then there is no stopping for Aishwarya Rai as she keeps on getting better.

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja

India’s fashionista Sonam Kapoor has always created the buzz, when it comes to the red carpets. Be it her International or National appearances we simply can’t resist her edgy looks . Her journey at the international red carpets started from 2011 at Cannes . She has always corroborated her funky Indo- Western looks like wearing ball gowns that others won’t or Naths that were almost forgotten and neglected by Indian stylists.
