5 REASONS WHY SELENA DESERVES BILLBOARD'S WOMEN OF THE YEAR 2017

Selena Gomez has added yet another feather to her achievements cap. She was presented with Woman of the Year Award at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music, which was held on November 30. Interestingly, this award was presented to Selena by her kidney donor and best friend Francia Raisa which makes it even more special for her.

Here are 5 reasons why Selena deserves The Woman of the Year Award, 2017.

1. Lupus couldn't stop her from achieving what she wanted

After her kidney transplant operation, she came out as a much more stronger woman. She even went on to give an epic and breathtaking performance of her latest hit single, Wolves, at the American Music Awards, which was her first performance ever since she recovered fro the operation.

2.  She values and acknowledges true friendship

These words from her award acceptance speech at Billboard's Women speech describe everything,

"To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award because she saved my life. I feel incredibly lucky. Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for the position I've been given in my career.  I don't know how I'll ever repay it, but maybe I'll make an epic album next year."

 

3. She wants to make this world a better place

The multi-platinum singer and actress, Selena Gomez is the executive producer for the hit Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why that graphically depicts a teen girl's suicide. With the help of this web series, she intends to start a conversation about the less talked issues in the society. Simultaneously, she is trying to spread awareness about issues like mental health and depression.

 

 

4. She lived up to her fans' expectations in every way

Her young age or the disease did not serve as an excuse for her. With her latest music videos, Wolves and Fetish, she clearly proves the point that there is absolutely nothing that can hold you back from giving your best or pursuing your dreams. Considering how serious her health issues, she still gave the world two phenomenal tracks!

 

5. Selena is an inspiration for all young the women out there

The 25-year old is also involved in numerous charity projects such as the Step Up Foundation, World Kindness Day and is raising over $500,000 for the Lupus Research Alliance. She has also been an active ambassador for UNICEF since 2009.
