The trailer of Rajkummar Rao's latest film 5 Weddings was released yesterday and we wonder after the series of hit films in 2017 and a strong performance with this year's Omerta, why Rao chooses to sign this movie. Because the story of the film seems new but as compared to his Bareliy Ki Barfi, the trailer of 5 Weddings is not that much fun and interesting to watch.
This rom-com flick is also a comeback for Nargis Fakhri after her last 2016's release Banjo. In the movie, Nargis plays a journalist who is given the task of writing an article on Indian weddings. She then travels to India, where, Rajkummar Rao, a cop, is assigned the responsibility of escorting her. According to the trailer, despite being an Indian, Nargis herself knows nothing about Indian weddings. So, she travels to Punjab to know about weddings but soon the easy-breezy story with a typical happy Punjabi background score took a turn and convert into a serious film about transgenders who have come to dance in the wedding as a ritual. In between Rao and Nargis are fall in love with each other, which adds to the romantic angle to the film.

But of course, It's too soon to judge the whole story just by its trailer, but the fresh onscreen pair of Nargis and Rao. I just hope the film helmed by Namrata Singh Gujral and featuring Golden Globe nominee Bo Derek and Academy Award-nominee Candy Clarke along with fabulous actor Rajkummar Rao must have something new and interesting to offer to the audience. The movie set to hit the theatres on September 21.
Apart from this film, Rao has an interesting line-up of films like Fanne Khan, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Stree and Mental Hai Kya. Nargis is also currently shooting for Sanjay Dutt starrer Torbaaz.
