`7 ACTORS WHO REDEFINE THE CONCEPT OF VILLAINS IN BOLLYWOOD

Are O Samba, Kitne aadmi the, Mugambo khush hua, Prem naam h mera, Prem Chopra! are some of the most popular dialogues delivered by Bollywood's most iconic villains. Our Bollywood films are incomplete without those villains, and these guys are so bad that they are actually good and unforgettable.

But as time is changing the character of villains are also evolving with time. now the villains or negative characters in the films are not limited to their sticky lines, vengeance, kidnapping of lead actress and most importantly his illegal business. Now the filmmakers and actor try to add layers to the negative character as well. Presently, you will not see the villain of the film as a pure hundred percent evil character who has no good side. While exploring the different ways to present a story, now the makers of the film also try to present the new-age villain who has someone to love, of course with their consent, now it is not necessary that he lives in his particular adda with his army. Now, a villain can also truly love someone or live a simple life without guns and tanks, can wear ordinary and good clothes. This is the one reason many 'heroes' of Bollywood are now ready to play the roles of villains as well. As a result of this positive change in the film industry, after playing some negative characters the actors are not typecasted or just stick to that particular image.  So, it gives a space to an actor to play various kinds of roles including negative roles.

Here we listed some of the best actors who redefine the concept of a villain in Bollywood films

Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Bollywood's one of the most versatile actors Nawaz is known for his ability to morph into any character he plays on screen. From Gangs of Wasseypur to his latest Babumoshai Bandookbaaz he played various kinds of characters, most of them are negative characters but through his impeccable acting, we can remember his every negative character separately. For example in Gangs of Wasseypur, he killed people but can do anything for his family and love. In Badalpur he played a role who killed someone for money but at the end, he completely changed himself for good. Some other examples are Raman Raghav, Haramkhor, Kick.

Rajkumar Rao

Last year was proved to be the golden year for Rajkumar Rao as he appeared in many hit ventures as a lead actor like Trapped, Bareliy Ki Barfi, Newton and web series Bose: Dead/Alive. No doubt he can do any kind of role but his negative role in Gangs of Wasseypur and Queen gave a variation to the negative character. He played Vijay in Queen and  Shamshad in GOW, both the characters are totally different but just one thing is common according to the script of both the films that both the characters are negative.

Vicky Kaushal

Four films old Vicky Kaushal played only one negative charcter in Anurag Kashyap's directorial Raman Raghav. But in just one film he proved that he can play any character with the same ease.

Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan emerged as the Langda Tyagi in Omkara and went on to play a terrorist in Kurbaan. According to him, this is the experimental period of his filmy career where he tries to do different kinds of roles and films including his last film Kalakaandi. Apart from his negative portrayal in Omkara, he recently played a grey character in Rangoon.

Irrfan Khan

His roles in films like Maqbool, Madaari and Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster are the clear example how he redefines the concept of the villain in films.

Jim Sarbh

The theatre artist impressed the audience with his first acting in Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja. But his latest perfect portrayal of Malik Kafur in Padmaavat left everyone speechless with his outstanding performance. He also played the negative character in Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Raabta.

Ranveer Singh

The role of Khilji in Padmaavat was somewhat similar to the typical villain of Bollywood as he treats women as objects, kill anyone anytime he even eat non-veg like an animal. But because Ranveer played the character so beautifully that he even managed to impressed every non-Ranveer Singh fans also.

Special Mention:- Actors such as Manav Kaul (Kai Po Che), Kay Kay Menon (Haider), Vidyut Jammwal (Force) are some other actors who changed the definition of a villain in Bollywood films.
