A day before ‘Holi-utsav’, Amitabh Bachchan takes ‘sick leave-break’ after muscle-tear injury during ‘Project K’ action-scene shoot — by Chaitanya Padukone
This year (2023) the annual ‘Rang Barse ’ gharelu Holi-Utsav revelry at the Bachchan-parivaar bungalow at Juhu may prove to be rather low-key and austere.
That’s because Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan who despite crossing 80 years of age is considered a daring, dedicated active ‘workaholic’ ( very passionate about constantly working) was injured during the shooting of his upcoming film, Project K, in Hyderabad.
The veteran yet young-at-heart energetic super-actor Big B shared his health update on his blog. He also said that he is currently taking rest at his home in Mumbai. Big B apparently suffered injury during an action sequence of the film. Unfortunately he suffered a muscle tear to his right rib cage.
Taking to his blog, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “In Hyderabad at the shoot for Project K, during an action shot, I have got injured .. rib cartilage popped broke and muscle tear to the right rib cage .. canceled shoot .. did Doctor consult and scan by CT at the AIG Hospital in Hyderabad and flown back home .. strapping has been done and rest been advocated .. yes painful .. on movement and breathing .. will take some weeks they say before some normalisation will occur .. some medication is on also for pain (sic).” He added, “So all work that was to be done has been suspended and canceled dropped postponed for the moment until healing occurs. I rest at Jalsa and am mobile a bit for all the essential activities .. but yes in rest and generally lying around. It shall be difficult or let me say .. I shall be unable to meet, the well wishers at Jalsa Gate this evening .. so do not come .. and do inform as much as you can to those that intend coming .. All else is well ”
Way back in July 1982, dedicated actor Amitabh Bachchan, known for his resilience (ability to bounce back) was critically injured in his intestines during an action-fight sequence with Puneet Issar in Manmohan Desai’s movie Coolie (1983) After being hospitalized it took him nearly six months to recover completely and resume shooting. Director Manmohan had even changed the climax of ‘Coolie’ from a tragic ending to a happy ending
The C Ashwini Dutt-backed mega-budget movie stars Deepika Padukone as the leading lady and marks her first collaboration with the Baabubali star. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan plays a key role in the biggie. Project K is expected to hit the screens in 2024. Ashwini Dutt earlier said that the film was a ‘about the modern-day avatar of Vishnu.’ Reportedly, it is set in a futuristic world. Project K’ is an upcoming science fiction Telugu film written and directed by Nag Ashwin that is being shot in Telugu and Hindi simultaneously starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone (In her Telugu debut) and Disha Patani. The film is tagged to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever to be made with a astronomical Rs 500 plus crores budget , The film is scheduled to be released on 12th Jan 2024, that is just a week after Deepika Padukone’s birthday on January 5th.
