Aa jkal filmo ka Suraj dakshin mein fir ug rha hai... BY ALI PETER JOHN

In the early 50s and 60s, it was the south that was ruling the world of films in india and even some of the best hindi films and successful films were being made in the south, especially in Tamil Nadu which was known as Madras then - Ali Peter John

There were some of the most prestigious studios like Prasad studios, Gemini studio, Vasu films, Vijay-vaunihi studios and many other smaller studio which made films in Tamil, telgu, malyalam and kannada.

There were noted filmmakers like LV Prasad, Vasu Menon, Nagi Reddy and Elvy prasaad who made ambitious films, mostly social films and most of them were successful.

They grew ambitious and made some of their successful films into Hindi, like Gharana, Ghunghat, Milan, Meherban, Sasural, Bhai Bhai and countless other films which opportunities to some of the leading stars Hindi films.

The industry in the South kept prospering, especially because of the Hindi films they made, but a time came when both the studios and the filmmakers lost interest in making Hindi films and continued making their own regional films and many of the studios even came to a close down, and this continued for more than 10 years.

The Andhra Pradesh government came up with a plan to give land to filmmakers who wanted to build studios in any part of Hyderabad and many leading filmmakers from Madras bought land on Rocky land on Banjara hills in Hyderabad and produced D ramandu built his most expensive studio on Banjara hills and called it D ramandu studio.

The successful Telugu star Krishna built his own Padamalaya studio also on Banjara hills and some other grand studio was also built on Banjara hills by the legendary star of telgu films Akkennei Nageshvara Rao.

The studios attracted several filmmakers from different parts of India and some telgu filmmakers started producing films in Hindi after getting inspired by a Hindi film made by Sundarlal Natha called 'Farz' with Jitendra and Babita in the lead and it's grand success.

Films like Lok parlok and Swarg aur Nark were made with Hindi stars like Jitendra, Sanjeev Kumar and vinod Mehra. The success of these films led to a flood of other hindi films and any number of producers took to making Hindi films without even caring about the subjects and how films were made.

But Jitender became the saviour of hindii films made in south and his word was the final word and he planned out and made films with the producer just agreeing to whatever he said.

His popularity made him build his own bunglow on Banjara hills and made several actresses and character actors almost shift to Hyderabad and agree to play any kind of silly and stupid roles just to make a lot of money.

Within the 10 years that Jitendra was living and ruling in Hyderabad, his wife Shobha and daughter Ekta built a palace-like house in Bombay for him about which he knew nothing till he had to come back to Bombay when the entire south-hindi connection cracked and came to an end and it looked like the end of the world for all those who believed and depended on production houses and producers from the south.

Films were within months during the Jitu raaj. Songs were written, recorded and picturized within a day. A song with 5 big stars like Rajesh Khanna, Jitendra, Sri Devi, Jaya parda and Amzad Khan was picturized in just two days when it would have taken more than 10 days to picturized in Mumbai.

Scripts were written on bus tickets, train tickets and plane tickets and carried by air from Bombay to Hyderabad. How could good films be made on for money ?

This maddening state of affair had to come to an end and it came to an end. Not a single Hindi film was made in Hyderabad or anywhere in the south during the last 10 years.

And then came SS Rajamauli's Bahubali which was followed by a sequel of the same successful film and now during the pandemic and soon after it, the sun of success seems to be shining all over for hindi films and it's makers in the south.

It all started with Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The rise which broke all box office records and the records of pushp were broken by RRR which has broken records all over the world and now there is KGF chapter 1 and 2 which has already crossed the 600 crore record and is still going strong with even the Hindi version running in several shows in a day, including a show at 6 Am.

This kind of a success for the films made in the south have given a Mighty complex to all filmmakers, all stars, all directors and all writers in Mumbai. Stars like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and even lady Kangana have been praising the films from the south, the stars and the directors for the way they make their films and are blaming Hindi film industry for not paying enough attention or any attention to their scripts and their only being interested in making more and more money.

YE JO SURAJ UGAA HUVA HAI DAKSHIN MEIN , WOH SAARE FILM BANAANE WAALO KO RAAH DIKHAANE KE LIYE HAI, DEKHE TOH ACCHA HAI, NAHI TOH ANJAAM WAHI JAANE HE JALD
