I had met Rishi Kapoor just a few days after he was diagnosed with cancer and he was smiling , drinking and asking me and other friends to enjoy life as life was short -  Ali Peter John

It was when we were alone that I asked him what would be his incomplete wish if he were to die suddenly and he said with a swig at his glass of whiskey and said, " I have lived the kind of life kings and sultans could envy and I don't have any wish unfulfilled.

But If there is really one wish I would like to see fulfilled , it would be my wish to see my son Ranbir get married to Alia Bhatt . I hope God is kind to me and keeps me alive till I see Ranbir and Alia take the saat pheras " and he gulped down his glass of whiskey and retired for the day ......

Rishi however died just before the beginning of the pandemic and had a very sad funeral with hardly ten people around in masks . And the world of Bollywood and the world in general was not the same again for the next two and a half years....

Till the first signs of hope were seen when big films were released and people returned to the theatres and multiplexes , films did well , stars like Alia Bhatt , Akshay Kumar and an entire legion of stars from the South took their places as the new superstars. And social life gradually came back to normal .

The first big social and cultural event was the wedding and reception of Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif which was so grand that it made people almost believe that there was no scare of the pandemic any longer.

This marriage gave hope to many other stars and not so big stars to dream of having their own marriages sooner than they had expected . And the first to dream of fulfilling their wish to get married were Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt .

Ranbir and Alia had been planning to get married three years ago , when Rishi Kapoor was alive and all things were slowly being finalised , but then came Rishi's ailment , followed by the Corona Virus and the lockdown and the death of Rishi and the marriage became least important and kept getting postponed like the films of Ranbir and Alia , but the loving couple were so much in love that they were willing to wait till eternity .

And now after the grand success of Alia's films like " Gangubai Khatiawaadi " and RRR and the date fixed for their first film together , "Brahmastra " the very much in love couple have finally decided to tie the knot as soon as possible and if reliable sources are to be believed, the big day is supposed to be any day between April 15 and April 20 and some sources are very sure that the wedding rites will be performed on April 17 at the R K bungalow where Ranbir's father , Rishi and Neetu , his mother had got married more than forty years ago and there are discussions about the venue for the reception .

The Rishi and Neetu reception was held in the compound of the R K Studio and I have not seen a reception like that in my life , but there is no R K Studio now and I wonder what the alternative will be for Ranbir and Alia's reception .

In the meanwhile , Ranbir and Alia are rescheduling , replanning and altering thier plans on a hectic spree and all those involved in the planning of grand star marriages are working day and night to make the marriage in the Kapoor and Bhatt family never before kind of marriage in Bollywood.

There are the usual hiccups like Randhir Kapoor , the only uncle Ranbir has now telling a section of the media that doesn't know anything about a marriage happening in his family and certainly not a marriage happening at the R K Cottage at Deonar in Chembur and many of the near and dear ones also saying that they are not even aware of the big fat marriage.

And the Bhatt family is as silent as ever , accept for letting their friends know that there is some hurry about the marriage because of the delicate health of Alia's grandfather , Mr N Razdan , the father of Soni Razdan who wants to see his favourite and loving granddaughter and favourite man , Ranbir Kapoor married before anything drastic happens to him .

The only dignified and fun - loving character in this whole " shaadi ka shor sharaaba " is Neetu Singh , the mother of the bridegroom and the saans of the bride . She has been looking dazzling during these recent weeks and has been shooting with Anil Kapoor for "Jug Jugg Jiyo " after nine years and only last week she was dancing with the today's generation actress Norah Fatehi for the dance reality show , "Dance:Deewane Juniors" .

And looking at her one of the senior dancers said , " aaj agar Chintu Sahab Neetuji ko dekhte , unko phir pyaar ho jaata "
