For the promotion of his ambitious film almost a decade back- Murugadoss’s Ghajini, believe it or not, Aamir Khan stepped into the shoes of a hairdresser and gave many of his fans the unique hair style that he sported in the film - Jyothi Venkatesh
Ushers in a popular multiplex chain like Cinemax in Andheri were also seen sporting the Ghajini hair-do. To promote the film 3 Idiots which was released way back in 2008, Aamir even disappeared for around three weeks and roamed around the North of India.
Yes. In an innovative marketing strategy to promote his film 3 Idiots, actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan had virtually disappeared and was on the run.
For two weeks before the release of '3 Idiots', the actor was on an adventure trip throughout the country. Nobody knew his whereabouts till he himself wished to reveal it himself.
Aamir had challenged his fans that he will be in their midst and yet they will not know about it for the next fortnight. "I don't like to lose.
If the participant wins seven victory points, I will concede defeat," the actor had said in a video message played at a press conference which was attended by other members of the cast, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Raj Kumar Hirani.
The "challenge" was part of Aamir's marketing plan to promote the film through Alternate Reality Gaming (ARG).
ARG was played across media platforms and was an interactive game played in the real world. In the game, the main character (Aamir) had revealed himself periodically and left clues of his whereabouts.
The first clue was announced by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar after watching a trial show of the movie. The riddle which was read out by Tendulkar contained the name of the city where Aamir was stationed at that point of time.
The participants were required to log on to idiotsacademy.com and the winner got to spend the New Year eve with Aamir.
