From his first film “Dharamputra” to his last film “Jab Tak Hain Jaan”, he never missed having a song sung by the Nightingale and he often said “Lataji ke bina main kaise ji sakta hoon? Unke bina jeena mere liye marne se bhi jyaada bhayanak hai”. Gulzar had the privilege of having his first ever poem sung by the Nightingale for the film “Sujata”. Madan Mohan was always at his creative best when he had to compose a song for Lataji. S.D. Burman has said that he was always at his best when he knew that he had to compose a song which was to be sung by Lataji and it was the same with son R.D. Burman. Vishal Bhardwaj who called her his goddess was always nervous when he had to record a song with her. Hema Malini felt privileged because most of her songs were sung by Lataji. Rekha called Lata her goddess and treated her like a goddess all the time and made her feelings open every time she was in her presence. Jaya Bahaduri (Bachchan) said she owed her success as an actor in a major way to her. Lataji had that magic wand with which she could change the careers of people and make the world a better place.
