Abhishek Bachchan was after all the son of the star of the millenium , Amitabh Bachchan and he was marrying non other than the then Miss World Aishwarya Rai and guests from all over the world and from every walk of the life were expected to attend the wedding reception - Ali Peter John

But at the last minute , it was discovered that the Bachchans had not invited even some of their best friends and colleagues to the reception , a fact that was noticed by one and all .

On the third or fourth day of the reception , the Bachchans sent boxes of sweets to those who were not invited and this gesture was taken in a very bitter way by many in the industry. And some like Shatrughan Sinha even returned the sweets with some cryptic messages which must have hurt the Bachchans ..

When this writer who was usually invited to every function of the Bachchans asked Amitabh why he was not invited , he said ,. " I am sorry , I did not make the list this time , the children did ."
