Marathi audience has always supported the innovative experiments in the Marathi films over last few years. Though the newer technology and exploration of the new media has resulted in the dwindling footfall in the theatres for the Marathi films, film producers and actors keep adopting newer techniques to appeal audience to support their films. Leading actors from the industry Mrunmayee Deshpande, Suvrat Joshi and Sayali Sanjeev were seen holding placards In Vile Parle , Andheri in Mumbai and near Fergusson College in Pune, appealing audience for the mentoring of the film. The bid was widely appreciated by the people in the city.
There has been a widespread sentiment for the need of supporting the Marathi literature, cultural and film stuff to ensure that rich Marathi language is conserved. On the backdrop the bid by the young Marathi actors was talk of the town.
The actors gathered at the Vile parle , Andheri and Nera Good Luck Hotel, Furgussion College Road Pune by holding placards in their hands. The placards displayed very innovative messages that catched the eyeballs of the people passing by. “Amachya Cinemachya Promotion saathi Amhi Tumachyakade Aloy, Tumhi Theatre madhye Tari Ya (We have come to you for the promotion of our film, you please come to theatre to watch it)”, “Amacha Cinema Tumhi Aai-Baba, Mitra-Maitrini, Priyakar-Preyasi Te Agadi Tumachi Ex-Sobathi Pahu Shakta (You can watch this film with your parents, friends, girl/boy friend or even your ‘Ex’),” “Marathi Lokanni Theatre madhye Javun Cinema Pahilach Naahi Tar Marathi Cinema Chalnar Kasa? (How will Marathi film survive if Marathi patrons did not watch them)”, were the intriguing messages on the placards held by the beautiful actors along the arterial road. Even people on the roads were amused by the efforts been put in by the actors and were seen assuring them to visit the theatres.
Mann Fakira, the film directed by Mrunmayee Deshpade and featuring Suvrat Joshi, Sayali Sanjeev, Anjali Patil and Ankit Mohan will release on March 6 across Maharashtra.
“Marathi audience has always stood by the innovative concepts and stories presented by the producers and actors. As an actress I have enjoyed this patronage by the Marathi audiences. Amid the downpour of the newer technology and newer mediums, there is simmering fear of the dwindling footfall in the theatres for the films. The film industry may find it difficult in absence of the support from the audience. Our endeavour was to appeal audience and make them come to theatres to watch our film,” said Mrunmayee Deshpande.
