Pets are petrified during Diwali because of the crackers. How you are going to protect your pet? Do you feel Diwali should be celebrated only with lights and not crackers. What is your opinion, please?

Diwali is a festival of family bonding. One of lot of lights and happiness. I feel crackers should definitely be banned completely. I do see that the Government has taken a number of steps towards minimizing the use of crackers but they should ban the crackers completely. It is so bad for everybody around be it humans or animals. I have my pet Luan which means lion. But I am scared because he is just 50 days old and I don't know how he is going to react to this. I am trying to ensure  that all the windows are soundproofed and make sure to be with him throughout so that he is not getting scared. I really feel bad for all the stray animals on the road because there is no protection for them. It's not just sound which makes them scared but it's also the pollution and the remnants around the road which are there for a lot of time. These animals eat these hazardous stuff and fall sick. So I really pray that the government takes stricter steps towards crackers and Diwali should be celebrated with lot of sweets and happiness and gifts around and a lot of colors rather than crackers.

I have two dogs named Kissy and Smoochy. They are petrified during Diwali and that’s why I take them out in the early hours on Diwali and then create a cozy and packed corner for them in the storeroom. My son is more worried for them so last Diwali he kept running every now and then to pat them and hug them. Your pets need you the most at such times. I believe you should just be there for them and even a tight hug will help them a lot. One thing I am against is harming stray animals in the name of fun. One should take strict action and let stray animals hide in the building on Diwali night. Honestly, I won’t say there should be no crackers. All our childhood Diwali was only about crackers. We don’t need this to stop we just have to do it in a little controlled and decent manner.

I make sure that my pet is indoor only at all times. I keep all the doors and windows shut to reduce the noise of the crackers. I don't find this fair  at all. Why should I restrict my pet? Why can’t people be a little more understanding? Diwali is a Festival of Lights and not a festival of sound and pollution. It should only be celebrated with lights. We should modify the way of our thinking that Diwali cannot be celebrated without burning crackers. Instead, we should celebrate this Festival of Light by planting plants and boost the governments initiative of “Green Diwali”

I always try not to burst crackers because not only is my pet scared but other animals and Birds also suffer. #SayNoToCrackers. Yes, Diwali should be celebrated with only Diya’s and  by wearing colorful clothes because crackers make a lot of pollution and it harms everyone. Think of the  old people and who have Breathing issues. We have to teach our children about pollution and side effects of Pollution. My Pet's Name is Bebo and I ensure she is at peace on Diwali..

Diwali is a Festival of Lights and I truly believe the best way to celebrate Diwali is to spread happiness. Burning crackers that hurt animals and even human beings can never be a way of spreading happiness. We are responsible citizens of our society. If we don’t stop burning crackers and set an example of happy Diwali, then who will? I know there are kids who desperately want to burn crackers. But as guardians, it’s our duty to stop them. Only then they will learn what’s right and what’s wrong. I strongly believe each one of us needs to take a step towards this and make this festival happy for everyone including the animals.

As Humans, we are blessed with a voice through which we can speak and express how we feel like. Animals can’t speak and only an animal lover can feel or understand. Whenever there are loud noises, especially the sound of the bursting of crackers or the sound of drums, most of the animals get scared. I’m not against any religious belief or their traditions but I believe we should eradicate all the customs that cause inconvenience to others, be it humans or animals. Whenever I see a traffic jam, or an animal suffering, anything that spreads air, noise, water pollution, I always question myself, is this humanity? Is this what festivals are meant to be? Is this what our religion and beliefs permit us to do? I strongly condemn all those who burst crackers, spread noise, and air pollution and also unknowingly or knowingly cause inconvenience to other living beings. Irrespective of what protective measures you take, pets cannot be fully protected because the crackers have a loud noise and pets have a hearing capacity which is much higher than that of humans. Yes, I feel Diwali should be celebrated with lights, eating good food, sweets, spreading happiness and positivity by helping the needy, by playing cards with friends and family by being with your family. Festivals are meant to be celebrated but not at the cost of petrifying animals or causing inconvenience to any living creature or disturbing the environment. I have two pets, a male - flirty and a female - Disney

every year during Diwali my pet Musky who is a pug is scared of sound crackers. Diwali should be celebrated with lights and flowers. Animals are the most innocent creatures and they are the most loyal too. They do unconditional things for us and when it is our turn to take good care of them we fall short. Sound crackers are nothing but waste of money. Instead of that we can light up our house with diyas and can light anars.
