Actress Sai Deodhar, who plays Pallavi in the TV show Nishabd, says she was a little apprehensive about taking up the role - Jyothi Venkatesh
The show addresses some of the concerns the LGBTQ community was facing and whether they would be portrayed correctly. However, the makers made sure that everything is portrayed beautifully.
When I was offered Nishabd, I was apprehensive when Meetu called me and told me it was an LGBTQ film. I was very happy because I had directed two short films on the subject. I always think there are so many beautiful stories that need to be shared. Stories and stories of families that touch everyone. When Meetu told me about it, I was overjoyed.
The actress, known for shows like Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and other popular shows, shares on playing such a sensitive role.
I wanted to know how they were going to portray the characters because there is a very thin line and I wanted to know that the line is not crossed. The aesthetics were maintained and for me the beauty of the story was more important than the physicality that was portrayed.
Talking about working with director-producer Mitu, she says, we have known each other for many years as we both have been in the industry for a very long time. He is a great human being and very passionate about stories.
Meanwhile, the actress says that not many shows are made on such subjects.
He concluded by saying, I have a daughter and I think schools should normalize this and put it in the curriculum so that children at a very young age are not afraid to come out and be scared. Normal is a very subjective term. I think the conversation and noise have started off right.
