Actress-producer Supriya Khan, who has been part of projects such as Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar, Damini, Marathi show Silsila, Campus, Mumbai Police, Zunj and Filmy Chakkar and Marathi film 'Char Divas Sasuche Char Divas Suneche', says that there are some projects which remain close to your heart. For the actress, one such project is the film Krishna, where she played Om Puri’s daughter.
“My most significant break in the film industry was with the movie Krishna. It was my first experience on the big screen, and I was thrilled. I played an essential character, Om Puri's daughter, in the film,” she says.
She adds, “I took my family to Chandan theatre when the film got released and that was the first time I gave an autograph to someone in my life. It made me realise this is what stardom is and this is how people recognise you. So, we were watching the film and as soon as it got over, we came out of the theatre. People started chatting and recognised me as Om Puri's daughter in the film. So that is how it went and these are the beautiful memories from that day. After that I did Khilona for Mukesh Duggal, then I did International Khiladi and a couple of other films too. I went on doing other Marathi serials too like Mumbai Police, Shadyantra however there's a long list of serials I was a part of. I was the face of Manorama Magazine for almost three years constantly.”
She says, “I was there on the cover page of the magazine for almost three years. Then I did a coke advertisement which was just for hoarding. That ad was shot by Mr. Harish Daftari. He shot that coke ad for coke digital hoarding. That was such a beautiful experience for me. I got the chance to witness myself on the big screen or hoarding. I did a music video called Bewafa Sanam. I did two songs for them which were released back then but, unfortunately, I don't have any video of them as of now. There's a long list of films that I did. I have done plenty of ads, music videos, and serials.”
As a producer, she has been part of quite a few projects. Talking about the same, Supriya says, “The last serial I did was Aadmi for Seema Kapoor (Anu Kapoor's sister). I think I shot that serial when I was working for Shobhana Desai as a casting director and executive producer for Babul Ki Dua Leti Ja. After that serial I stopped acting because I met Ismail on the sets of Shaktiman when I was a part of it. In 1998, I got married to Ismail. After marriage, in 2001, I quit acting. I thought I would get back to it after a break. But you know behind the scenes you become an executive producer then you start upgrading yourself in other aspects of life. Then all these things start taking a backseat. Then you start developing your interest in production, serial making and all that. So, I was more into that. I have directed and produced almost like hundred and eleven music videos. We have produced and directed those music videos. There's a South Indian guy, for whom I did an ad film which was basically for an exercising ball. These are some of my individual projects that I directed and produced.”
