In the dark and dismal times when there is so very little to do, I have found a way of finding the light - ALI PETER JOHN

I switch on my mobile and see pictures of the mothers of animals like cats, dogs and mostly monkeys showing their love, affection and care for their kids and my heart fills up with joy and after I see them ,a little sadness comes out of missing my mother.

And while I am seeing this picture, I listen to the song sung by the great Lata Mangeshkar which goes , "Tu kitni achi hai , tu kitni bholi hai, yeh duniya kaanton ka van hai tu phulwaari hai" and the rest of the day passes as if I don't have a problem and the world around me has no problem.

I am often tempted to believe that this world would have been a much better place if there was a god who was a mother and if all those taking important decisions for the world would also be mother.

I know my wishes will not come true, but what is wrong if I do some wishful thinking about my mother and other mothers!

Let me stop wishing and being tempted by thoughts that are like dreams and let me tell you the stories of some men who have never forgotten their mothers till the end of their lives.

I may have mentioned these names before, but I feel like talking about them time and again because of their ardent education and devotion to their mothers .

I know there may be many other sons who have worshipped their mothers but I know the great men like Devanand , Dilip kumar , M.F. Hussain, Khushwant singh , Dharmendra and Sunil Dutt, some sons who could have brought the sun in their palms and presented it to their mothers if their mothers had just aksed them to.

Sunil Dutt was the son of a mother who was the widow of a farmer and had come to Bombay after promising his mother that he would first finish his graduation, do his B.A. and then do whatever he wanted to.

He used to sleep outside a hair cutting salon and continued his studies in Bombay. He found a job as an announcer with Radio Ceylon which was the most popular radio station those days. His job was to interview the leading stars of Hindi films.

He was interviewing Devanand when Dev looked at him and his handsome face and personality and asked him to try his luck as an actor.

He then interviewed Dilip Kumar on the sets of a film called Shikast and the legendary actor told him just what Dev had told him.

He was talking to Dilip Kumar when the eyes of director Ramesh Saigal fell on him and he instantly offered Sunil the role of a leading man in his next film.

Sunil ( his real name was Balraj) was very excited, but he told Saigal that he couldn't do anything till he finished his B.A. because it was a promise he had made to his mother.

The director told him that anyone in his place would have grabbed his offer with both hands, but Sunil was determined to fulfil his mother's wish for him.

It took Sunil a few more months to clear his B.A. and he continued his job with Radio Ceylon.

He met Saigal bychance in a studio and Saigal told him that he was still waiting for him to say yes to his offer.

When Sunil told him that he has fulfilled his mother's wish, Saigal signed him for his film 'Railway platform ' and he was paid a signing amount of Rs.300.

Railway platform was a successful film and even a meaningfull film. Sunil soon found other offers to play leading men but the best thing to happen to him was Mother India in which he played a negative role and the film changed his life and career.

He found his wife in Nargis and he found a lot of work which made him a leading star of 60s.

He was not only an actor, he was a producer,a director, a selfless social worker and ended up as a leading politican of the country.

But in everything that he did, he always thanked his mother first and one day he told me, "Agar, maa nahi hoti toh main kuch bhi nahi hota.

Kabhi kabhi aisa lagta hai ki duniya ki baaghdor ek maa ke haath hoti , toh yeh duniya kitni khoobsurat hoti"

DUTT SAAB KA KHAAB POORA HO YA NAA HO , MERI BHI KHWAAHISH POORI HO YA NA HO LEKIN MAA JAB TAK HAI ISS DUNIYA MEIN HAI TAB TAK YEH DUNIYA KA KOI KUCH NAHI BIGAAD SAKTA, COVID BHI NAHI.
