In November 2020, Javed Khatar filed a defamation case against Kangana that her image had suffered a setback.

He usually avoids getting involved in such matters of the film industry, but the way Kangana Ranaut's statement was going viral in Sushant Singh Rajput's case, many people in the film world were surprised. According to Kangana's allegations, Javed Akhtar has told the court that after the news of the alleged relationship between Kangana and Hrithik Roshan, Javed Akhtar had called Kangana to his house and said that Rakesh Roshan and his family are very big people.
