JYOTHI VENKATESH

After winning hearts of viewers on Doordarshan and keeping them entertained during the lockdown period, as the nation bravely battles against the Covid-19 pandemic, BR Chopra’s Mahabharat will keep the country entertained for longer. Pen India Ltd., which holds all the rights of the celebrated mythological tele series, says that the show has started airing on the channel, Colors, too. It is interesting to note that while Doordarshan is still telecasting just two different episodes every day one in the morning and one in the evening, Colors will telecast at a stretch three different episodes every evening from 7 pm to 9.15 pm. The telecast will start from May 4 and will go on till June 19. It will air from 7 pm to 9 .15 pm pm every day, which is prime time. The viewers will get to enjoy it even on Saturdays and Sundays. So Mahabharat becomes a show that will air on TV constantly and is also available on the Pen Bhakti YouTube channel any time.”

Talking about it, Pen CMD Dr Jayantilal Gada says, “India is a land of multiple cultures and people feel strongly attached to their mythological beliefs. In the late ‘80s and ‘90s, mythological shows used to rule TV and they left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of the viewers. Hence, when they are being aired again, people are loving going down the memory lane. Take BR Chopra’s Mahabharat, for instance. It continues to be timeless because of various traits. It is so close to everyone’s hearts because it has a cultural relevance. All the characters on the epic show are very relatable and everyone feels attached to them. Apart from cultural relevance, Mahabharat is a timeless tale that encompasses a lot of moral lessons for the viewers. It won hearts years ago and continues to rule even now. The show was, is and will be one that never gets dated.”
