AFWAAO SE DOOR , ANIL KAPOOR

Being in the midst of a controversy of being a subject of gossip is an intrinsic part of stardom or that is some kind of an unwritten law which many follow , whatever the consequences - Ali Peter John

But there is one star I have seen grow before my eyes and who has reached a new high as an actor- star , it is Anil Surinder Kapoor.

I first used to see this young boy walking around R K Studios which was very close to where he lived . He had the makings of a star , but looked for ways of reaching his goal .

His elder brother , Boney Kapoor who worked with Shakti Samanta as his assistant director made a few films under his fathers banner , Narasimha Enterprises and then took a big and even risky step to make an unusual film called "Hum Paanch", a film with a blend of actors like Sanjeev Kumar, Shabana Azmi , Amrish Puri , Naseeruddin Shah , Mithun Chakraborty and Deepti Naval .

The film was entirely or almost shot on an unknown location called Melkote in the Mandya District of Bangalore .

Boney had made all arrangements for the shoot and even for the accommodation of all the artists and technicians with proper rooms which were air conditioned and there were every kind of facilities for each one of them , including the facility to make STD calls .

It was a long shooting spell and Boney had an able production man who was his younger brother, Anil Kapoor.

It was Anil's job to look after the comforts of the stars and to see that visiting journalists were looked well .

And in the midst of all the frenetic activities, there was one man who kept a constant eye on Anil Kapoor .

That man was the director of " Hum Paanch" , Bapu , a well known Kannada filmmaker. One evening Bapu told Boney that if he gave him permission, he would like to cast his brother Anil as the hero of his Kannada film and that was the beginning of the wise of Anil Kapoor .

Bapu again passed Anil in "Woh Saat Din" with Padmini Kolhapure , Naseeruddin Shah , Nilu Phule and Master Raju in key roles .

Woh Saat Din was a hit . Anil signed many more films , he became one of the leading stars in India and even in Hollywood.

He is an established star and producer today and has a very simple life at home with his wife Sunita who has been his source of inspiration for more than 3 decades , and their children , Sonam , Rhea and Harshvardhan .

I have often tried to ask Anil the secret of his success and he has always given the credit to Sunita .

Their love story has passed the tests of time and it is a big surprise for many to know that Anil has never been said to have affairs with other women . And he says , " jab gharwaali itni pyaari ho , toh bahaarwaali ki kyaa zaroorat hai ?"
