While most other recently-released blockbuster Hindi movies are finding it very tough to reach even Rs 75 crores even after three weeks. The maverick suspense crime-thriller film, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, collected over Rs 08.62 crores on day seven of its release, taking its total domestic box office collection to almost Rs.105 crores ! Drishyam2 is the second highest grosser and opener of this year 2022 and is now racing towards Rs 200 Crores ! ‘Drishyam 2’ created box-office history since it had started post-midnight screening of extra shows and early morning matinees in selected cinema theatres, in complying with overwhelming ‘public demand’ ! Right from Day One itself ! Besides mega-star Ajay Devgn, the film also stars super-talented Tabu, beautiful Shriya Saran, top-cop awesome Akshaye Khanna, Ishita Dutta and Saurabh Shukla, with proactive supporting cast like popular actors Yogesh Soman and Kamlesh Sawant as tough police officers and actress Dr. Samvedna Suwalka as lawyer-advocate Gayatri Mohan. The movie is a sequel to Ajay's 2015 crime thriller Drishyam, which was the Hindi remake of the Mohanlal-starrer Malayalam movie of the same name. The Hindi sequel to the Malayalam film released in February 2021. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, director Abhishek Pathak ( son of Kumar Mangat Pathak ) and Krishan Kumar. The film is presented by Viacom18 Studios, T-Series and Panorama Studios. In an interview with the news-media, director Abhishek spoke about Drishyam 3 and even Drishyam 4, and said, "People are evidently super-excited, so they are bound to assume theories on part 3 and 4. But we're just about to close our first super-hit week now. For sure there's a public demand for part 3. It shall happen, but we are just happy to be crossing the Rs 100-crore number at the moment. Once we have some time off, we will think about what we're going to do in the next part but as of now we're just enjoying every bit of favourable feedback that we're getting." Unassuming star-hero Ajay Devgn has always dedicated the credit for the success of his super-hit movies with his entire cast and crew and of course the love and affection and loyal support of his ardent fans and theatre-audiences. Speaking about his next directorial, Abhishek added, "I have a couple of scripts already in place. I'm thinking what to take next. I need to put my brain to it because after delivering this one, I want to take a story which is loved by people and accepted the way this one was received." Apparently delighted ‘Drishyam2’ supporting actress Samvedna Suwala ( she plays Ajay’s Devgn’s advocate) reacted, “Oh isn’t it amazing!!!! 100 crores!! Firstly it’s great because this means that the film is being loved by the audience! Secondly this proves that the film is bringing the audiences back to the theatres!! For me as an actress, it means that my work is reaching out to more and more people!” Recalling her experience while shooting with Ajay Devgn, supporting actress Samvedna shared, It was surreal to stand next to him and fight his case in court. He stood there quietly and I was the one doing all the talking. I had to appear confident but I was very aware that he was standing right next to me and watching me! I am glad I got it in one take and he smiled at me. He doesn’t say much. Keeps to himself. But after my monologue in court, when he was walking back to his vanity-van,, he patted me on the back and just walked away. I did a little dance of joy , bcause Ajay Devgn had acknowledged or rather appreciated my performance! My day was made!”, confides Samvedna. Related Articles Latest Stories Read the Next Article
