According to the news published in Hindustan Times, during an interview when Akshay Kumar was asked about this issue to which he replied "Bollywood movies are not performing well at the box office due to blockbuster hits of regional cinema, but I am hopeful that things will change and the time will come soon when every film will do well at the box office."

He added, "I don't believe in any division, I get very angry when someone says 'this is from the south industry and this is from the north, 'we all belong to the same industry and I also believe the same, I think we should stop asking this question now". Akshay further said “What is happening today, the same thing happened in the time of independence, this is what the British did too they divided the country by South India, East India and North India.
