This Holi, watch the most awaited mega blockbuster of the year Sooryavanshi with its World Television Premiere on Zee Cinema on 19th March at 8pm.

Talking about the film, we have the megastar Akshay Kumar opening about his first collaboration with Rohit Shetty, recreating Tip Tip Barsa Paani, and preparing for his role of Veer Sooryavanshi.

1) Sooryavanshi is your first collaboration with Rohit Shetty, what was the experience like?

I hadn’t explored the action-thriller genre in the cop universe for a while, and to mark our first collaboration, Rohit and I thought this could be an idea that the audience would greatly enjoy.

Our idea was to do something different within the space and working with Rohit on this project was really fun.

He is quite easy to work with as he is extremely clear with his vision for every cut, every scene and is always open to ideas. I look forward to exploring this collaboration more for newer projects.

2) Sooryavanshi songs took the audience by a storm. Tell us about recreating ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ with Katrina Kaif and the experience of collaborating with Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh for ‘Aila re Aila’

‘Tip Tip barsa paani’ is a timeless song that has a fanbase of its own. Shooting for this song was a nostalgic affair. Katrina is such a fabulous dancer, recreating the song with her was an absolute delight.

As for ‘Aila re Aila’ Ajay, Ranveer and I had a blast performing the catchy and rowdy dance steps of this song. The contagious energy, nonstop stories and rib-tickling banter is what made every day on the set thoroughly enjoyable.

I feel the three super cops coming together and doing their popular hook steps is what held the attention of the audience.

3) How did you prepare for the role?

I have never ventured far from my action-days. It’s my favourite genre and it’s always fun to work on such exciting projects. Though this time it was a unique experience.

I remember being up there and hanging from the helicopter with bare hands, when I looked down, I saw my daughter down there, watching me.

All that was on my mind was making her proud. She was the driving force behind the prep for my role.

4) Sooryavanshi is now premiering on Zee Cinema, how do you feel?

Nothing can beat the experience of watching a film with a room full of your family and friends with that nonstop banter and fun.

TV is a medium that brings everyone together, and I’m more than glad that Sooryavanshi, a project so close to my heart, will reach my fans through Zee Cinema, a channel with a strong legacy and wide audience reach.
