Iconic Aquaman actor, Jason Momoa, narrates and produces Deep Rising; Matthieu Ritz directs this groundbreaking real-life documentary. It probes the destiny of our planet's final untamed wilderness - the deep ocean. The film illuminates an impending peril that these depths confront: a clandestine organization's scheme to permit enormous extraction of seabed metals in response to the global energy crisis. Deep Rising employs awe-inspiring visuals and compelling storytelling to showcase: the deep ocean's vital relationship with sustaining life on Earth.

Deep Rising, a powerful reminder of the urgent need to protect our oceans and preserve the delicate balance of marine ecosystems, chronicles The Metals Company's journey. This mining startup navigates challenges: securing funding; winning public favor; obtaining permission from the International Seabed Authority to mine extensive areas of Pacific Ocean floor.

Deep Rising in India

Proudly kick-starting the 2023 festival with Deep Rising's India premiere, ALT EFF offers a unique opportunity for audiences to witness this thought-provoking documentary on the big screen. Continuing its commitment towards promoting environmental consciousness and inspiring positive change through filmmaking artistry as the festival scales up in size and impact, ALT EFF perseveres.

India, at a critical juncture regarding regenerative energy solutions, faces two options: it can persist as one of the principal proponents advocating for DSM (Deep Seabed Mining); alternatively, by harnessing its resources and technological prowess—lead global progression away from this paradigm that nearly precipitated environmental catastrophe. This presents an opportunity for India to instigate positive change on a worldwide scale; consequently–we eagerly announce our partnership with ALTEFF 2023—for Deep Rising's India Premiere. Director: Deep Rising--Matthieu Rytz.
