Ambanis Don Custom Couture at Inauguration of NMACC - A Fusion of East and West Fashion Sensibilities by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Maison Valentino

This weekend witnessed the inauguration of the much-awaited Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai. A path-breaking and eclectic space dedicated to the promotion of The Arts and Culture of India as well as the finest from across the globe.

Nita and Mukesh Ambani hosted a celebratory gala on the 1st of April to mark the momentous occasion. A month-long exhibit, INDIA IN FASHION, The Impact of Indian dress and Textiles on the Fashionable Imagination, curated by Hamish Bowles opens on April 3.

For the event which promised to be a highlight of the city’s fashion and social calendar, Mrs Nita Ambani and her daughter, Isha Ambani Piramal (Instagram) were dressed in custom couture that reflects the spirit of the exhibition and melds the finest fashion of the East and West.

In a groundbreaking interaction between 2 design houses, they wore gowns by Maison Valentino with capes handcrafted by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, the perfect fusion of sensibilities, craftsmanship and design to create breathtaking style.

Nita Mukesh Ambani wore a champagne gold Valentino gown with a trailing tulle cape over it which was embroidered by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. It is a Burano lace cape, exquisitely embroidered in fine antique gold and silver zardozi work, Jaali, crystals and naqshi.

Isha Ambani Piramal wore a Valentino red gown with an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla cape.  Red tulle is magnificently hand embroidered in red zardozi, bugle  beads , crystals and resham in shades of red.

“The fashioning of these red carpet masterpieces has been an exclusive and highly innovative experience for us and is an absolute tribute to Mrs Ambani and Isha. When the theme ‘India Inspired’ was decided as the Dress Code for the Gala, Mrs Ambani requested that Valentino design their gowns and combine them with AJSK capes to create a perfect blend of India Inspired Couture”, share Abu and Sandeep

RBL is also in partnership with Valentino and has brought the brand to India.

Fashion aficionados are in store for a real treat as they witness the coming together of two design houses exclusively for the Ambani Family.
