Tara Singh and Sakina have outdone the dry spell of the B.O?
We knew Tara and Sakina have lived in the hearts of the people for more than 20 years. People saw Gadar as not a film but as an emotion. Gadar release is like a festival. Gadar was looked upon as a dark horse. But to relive that character Sunny and me together again we were touching an iconic legacy that no one had done before the romantic and artistic film. No one has done it before with ‘Pakeeza, ‘Mother India ‘and even with Sholay... None of these cult films have part 2. So we were also nervous but somewhere people will be curious to know Tara Sakina ke sath Kya hota hai and itna pyaar denge was really heart-rending. We took a risk and this sequel was not made for the heck of it. We didn't make the film with a green light intention just to get full B.O on Friday ...Saturday. We tried to match the legacy but made it sincerely.

Any regrets why heroines go missing on posters and promotional activities?
Nowadays heroines are not seen on the posters. Also promotions only heroes carry it on their shoulders; their pictures are seen on the posters. Heroines have very little to do. So there is a dry spell. My friends always tease me. God always saves me for iconic blockbuster films. All your films bring Tsunami at the B.O. I hope the industry wakes up and makes good films, not projects.
Pakistan media is irked with Sunny’s dialogues-Aadha Pakistan Khali ho jayega. What do you have to say?
I wish there was a utopian world to be honest, why only Pakistan –Hindustan I would like to see the entire world being united. I do not like what’s happening in Ukraine and Russia. Poor people suffer when war breaks out. Children, mother's losing too many brave army soldiers and people as a whole is regretful and uncalled for.

Now a day’s male gaze kind of films have reduced?
Yes, it’s a very good change. Good actors are needed. That formula of hero, heroine, and villain has been reduced. Now amazing actors are getting author-packed roles and credit for their talent. The audiences are getting to watch different kinds of cinema.
Would you like to do any yesteryear heroines biopic?
I would love to do Madhubala's biopic. After both the Gadar parts people are calling me Meena Kumari and Madhubala. The poster's reference as Sakina ignites that wholesome Madhubala feel. I would love to play biopics of historical characters.
