“Amitabh Bachchan Is My Inspiration”—Thalaiva ‘Golden Jubilee Icon’ Rajinikanth  At IFFI-50

Amidst thunderous ovation mixed with enthused adulation,   superstar Amitabh Bachchan honoured Southside revered mega-star ‘Thalaiva’ Rajinikanth with the ‘Icon of the Golden Jubilee’ Award  at the ongoing week-long star-studded prestigious International Film Festival of India ( IFFI) 50th ‘Golden Jubilee’ edition, in Goa yesterday in the presence of  Union I & B Minister Prakash Javadekar  and the popular Goa CM Pramod Sawant. “ We  offer advice each other, although we may never listen to it. I feel relationships are made of this,” smiled the Big B as the audience cheered and applauded.  The unassuming Thalaiva who has co-starred with the Big B in movies such as ‘Andha Kanooon’ and ‘Hum’ , asserted that  “Amitabh has been my inspiration”, while dedicating the IFFI-50 award-honour to all his movie-producers, directors, technicians and millions of  ardent fans.

Interestingly, the 77 year old agile-active superstar Bachchan-saab also spoke about his glorious 50 year career in Bollywood, having debuted in  ‘Saat Hindustani ( 1969 . ) Which coincidentally, had the backdrop of  the Goa-liberation movement. The IFFI-50 will be showcasing a retrospective of Amitabh Bachchan as he was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke National supreme  cinematic award this year,  that also makes him the 50th recipient of the prestigious  Phalke Award. . The  ‘celebs’  turn-out at the grand IFFI-50 fest  included Karan Johar (also the emcee-event-host), singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan (who also  performed a ‘live’ Indo-western vocal-rhythmic fantastic  fusion ), Ramesh Sippy, Rahul Rawail, Siddharth Roy Kapur,  Subhash Ghai, Madhur Bhandarkar and Nitesh Tiwari besides a galaxy of foreign film-makers and few noted actors  especially  ‘Lifetime Achievement’ awardee highly acclaimed senior French actress Isabelle Huppert .The ‘IFFI-50’ attendees and delegates this year were ‘missing’ the presence of  ‘late’ former popular Goa C.M. Manohar Parrikar’s , who was accorded a fond tribute,  just before the  fest-event was started with fanfare.
