An attempt to re-establish connect between intellectuals and practitioners... 'Lokmanthan'

Conceived as a ‘colloquium of Nation First Thinkers and Practitioners’, more like a ‘Boudhik Mela’, which will be enriched not just by intellectuals and writers but other representatives of our vibrant realm of art and culture, like painters, sculptors, dancers, musicians etc., entitled Lokmanthan, would take place from 27th - 30th September at Khelgaon, Ranchi. Lokmanthan is also an attempt to re-establish the connect between intellectuals and practitioners, said J. Nand Kumar (General Secretary, Lokmanthan). Nand Kumar was speaking at the pre-press conference of three day mega conclave. Rajya Sabha MP Prof Rakesh Sinha and Umesh Upadhyay (Member Central Committee, Lokmanthan) were also present there to address the media.

This is the second edition of Lokmanthan, a biennial brainstorming for nationalist thinkers and practitioners to be organised by Prajna Pravah, an umbrella organisation of nationalist think tanks in Ranchi, Jharkhand, from September 27 to 30. The Ranchi edition will discuss and deliberate on the theme ‘Bharatbodh: Jan-Gan-Man’ (The idea of Bharat: nation-society-mind), Nand Kumar added.

Talking about the mega conclave, Sinha said Lokmanthan 2018 is mainly intended to provide a platform for multi-layered discussions on topics ranging from arts to environment. The first edition of Lokmanthan was hosted in Bhopal last year on the theme of Desh-Kaal-Sthiti (the present national scenario). He further added that the concept of Lokmanthan is Conceived as a ‘colloquium of Nation First Thinkers and Practitioners’, more like a ‘Boudhik Mela’, which will be enriched not just by intellectuals and writers but other representatives of our vibrant realm of art and culture, like painters, sculptors, dancers, musicians etc. Lokmanthan is also an attempt to re-establish connect between intellectuals and practitioners.

J Nand Kumar said, the mega conclave will witness multilayered discussions, aimed at bringing out some positive outcome for all the discussants. This time the central theme of Lokmanthan is Bharat-Bodh: Jan- Gan- Man. What is the Idea of Bharat, what is our idea of nation and society, what is the mind of Bharat, what was it, what is it and in which direction should it go; all these topics will be discussed, and related issues will be addressed in the deliberations. Simultaneously, political, economic, local governance models which we are following and to be followed, will be discussed. And in the present context, an attempt to do objective self-assessment (Atmavalokan) will also be made.

The mega conclave would be inaugurated by Hon'ble Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu at Khel Gaon, on 27th September 27, while Hon'ble Loksabha Speaker Smt Sumitra Mahajan will address the valedictory function on 30th September 2018.  For the conclave, we're bringing a galaxy of intellectuals, artists and activists on our platform as speakers. We are honoured to have the presence of great luminaries like Ranga Hari and many others, says Nand Kumar.
