An Out And Out Indian Restaurant Called Jimmy Jimmy Launched In Raj Kapoor’s Honor By His Son Rajeev Kapoor In Georgia

 Very recently, an out and out Indian restaurant specializing in typical Punjabi as well as South Indian dishes was launched in honor of the late showman of the Indian film industry called Jimmy Jimmy with great fanfare in Georgia out of all places on earth. The restaurant launch was done with honors by none other than Raj Kapoor’s son Rajeev Kapoor in Georgia. Rajeev had specially taken time out to go to Georgia via Dubai to make the opening doubly an occasion to celebrate.

 Not only do people remember with pride Raj Kapoor who has given them Hindi songs which are even today popular in Russia as well as Georgia like Mera Jhootha Hai Japani, Awara Hoon etc, but besides his son Rishi Kapoor, even his youngest son who bears a striking resemblance to Raj Kapoor as well as his uncle Shammi Kapoor. I had accompanied Rajeev Kapoor on behalf of bollyy.com. Rajeev who was overwhelmed that a restaurant in the Fortune Palace Group of Hotels owned by not a Punjabi but a staunch Kannadiga like Praveen Shetty, that too in Georgia, remembers his father Raj Kapoor still and had chosen to honor Raj Kapoor by naming a Indian restaurant in his honor and asked him to attend it as the chief guest.

 Present on the occasion of the inauguration of the restaurant Jimmy Jimmy were Parveen Shetty who is the Chairman and managing Director of the group of hotels ( he owns hotels in Dubai as well as Georgia and Gunasheelan, who manages the operations of the hotel in Georgia, where I bumped across a lot of young Bangladeshis as well as Pakistanis who said that they were young ardent females fans of the late Raj Kapoor and literally mobbed Rajeev Kapoor for his autographs as well as ‘selfies’ and even asked him about his elder brothers Randhir Kapoor and  Rishi Kapoor with a lot of concern.

 Talking about his current assignments the actor who has acted in films like Ram Teri Ganga Maili and Ek Jaan Hain Gum and directed Prem Granth, Rajeev Kapoor confessed that right now he is busy acting in Haridas Junior directed by Mridul, who has previously directed Ashutosh Gowarikar had directed the 2005 Hinglish film Missed Call, besides writing the dialogues for Gowariker’s TV show Everest. The landmark RK Studio in Chembur built by Raj Kapoor near Chembur built by Raj Kapoor  70 years ago — was up for sale of was up for sale following a collective decision by his sons Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv, and daughters Ritu Nanda and Rima Jain, as it was no longer practical to hang on to the sprawl ling, two-acre studio, a major part of which was gutted in a fire on September 16 last year. I was  quiet  close to the late Raj Kapoor and hence I became quite emotioanal while I was at the function in Georgia with Rajeev Kapoor in Dubai as well as Georgia.
