Annup Sonii --So Charged Up That He Waives His Charge For Samir Tewari’s Slick Short Film ‘Level 13’

Dozens of special invitees including showbiz celebs like Arshad Warsi, Manjari Fadnis, Rakesh Paul, Maria Goretti, Nisha Rawal, Juhi Babbar , Flora Saini, Nadira (Raj) Babbar and style-icon Mamta Raja and many more were fully fidaa over  the 13 minutes Hindi short film titled  ‘Level 13’  at its sneak premiere-preview.  Gushed Arshad Warsi, “Expect the unexpected, the movie is a top-level winner , because you just can’t  predict the rattling climax”. The short flick directed by the prolific ad-film-maker Samir Tewari   and produced by Muktal Tewari is a slick social thriller with  brilliant realistic performances by the entire cast . It sensitively deals with a bold, drastic twist  involving two middle-aged couples.   The perfect outfits styling has been done by charming Bandita (Rani) Patro, who has also played a cameo role.  In the showbiz industry  known for its ‘very commercial’ attitudes  it is heartening to note that there are bade dilwale senior actors who refuse to charge money once-in-a-while.

The stellar seasoned cast comprising Annup Sonii, Rajev Paul, Sandhya Mridul and Swati Semwal  (of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi and ‘Fanney Khan’ fame) refused to charge their regular fees when talented prolific ad-films maker-turned-director cast them in his venture.  Explains popular ‘Crime Patrol’ anchor-narrator Annup Sonni, “ This ‘Level 13’ film has an unusual yet compelling story-line with a riveting climax . Since I knew director Samir very well for over past two decades,  I felt that for a two- days short-film shoot, I should waive off my remuneration. Everyone who has watched it has been highly appreciating it,” says Annup who was recently seen in a Marathi movie ‘Fatteshikast’  where he  played a historic negative character Shaista Khan, who had to speak only in chaste Hindi in the movie.

 Wasn’t it true that Sonii, was declining TV role offers. “ That’s right, except for ‘Crime Patrol anchoring,  I have taken a conscious decision not to take up new TV serial-shows.   What I am excited about is I have also shot for three different web-series which will start streaming in 2020. In each of these I have played contrasting roles. Among them is the prequel of ‘Baahubali’ on Netflix where I play a young, little Sivagami’s  warrior-father, ”  reveals Annup,  who besides acting in drama-plays, had also enacted  a cameo role in the recent movie  ‘Prasthanam’.   “ Then there is a new movie for  which I will start shooting in January, where I have an important role ,” shares the eminent actor-anchor
