Anupam Kher shares first poster of The Accidental Prime Minister

One of Bollywood's veteran performers Anupam Kher is all set to add another feather to his cap. The actor is stepping into the shoes of India's ex-Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the upcoming film The Accidental Prime Minister.

The film is based on Sanjaya Baru's book of the same name which gives an in-depth account of Dr. Singh's tenure and the scenario of Indian politics. Kher took to Twitter to announce the film and reveal his look. The actor tweeted, “To reinvent yourself as an actor is to challenge yourself. Looking forward to portraying #DrManmohanSingh in #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister.:)”

Kher, with the trademark turban, beard and glasses, looks like a spitting image of the former prime minister in the poster. Ever since the release of the poster, the industry-folk as well as fans just can't stop sharing their excitement and expectations about the film.

The film is slated for a winter 2018 release and is written by national award-winning director Hansal Mehta (of Aligarh and City Lights fame). While Kher is confirmed to play the former prime minister, the rest of the cast has not been finalised yet. The film will be directed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and produced by Ashoke Pandit and Sunil Bohra.
