ANUSHKA SHARMA NAMED PETA'S PERSON OF THE YEAR

It seems that last month of the year 2017 is all about Anushka Sharma as she got married to Indian cricket team's captain  Virat Kohli. And a day after her grand Mumbai reception, Anushka is again making headlines after she is named 'Person of the Year' by animal rights organisation People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

For those of you, who don’t know, Anushka is a vegetarian, who has bagged the title for contributing her efforts towards protecting dogs from fireworks and advocating for horses who are forced to pull carriages in Mumbai.

PETA Associate Director Sachin Bangera states, "Anushka Sharma is a proud animal rights proponent whose kindness and initiative know no bounds."

Bangera added, "PETA is calling on everyone to follow her lead by eating healthy plant-based meals, helping community animals by speaking up when they are suffering, and always keeping an eye out for new ways to help animals.

A few months ago she launched her own cruelty-free clothing line named as NUSH. She also started a campaign called PAWsitive to raise awareness of the suffering fireworks cause to animals and also took to Twitter to demand a ban on cruel carriage rides in Mumbai.

Earlier, in 2015, the actress was also named as PETA's Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity.
