ANUSHKA SHARMA'S 'PARI' IS NOT LIKE USUAL INDIAN HORROR FILMS

Anushka Sharma is going to scare the hell out of you in just 1 day. After all the screamer and trailer release, 'Pari'  is being touted as a film that would give the horror genre in Bollywood a new lease of life. The trailer was not clear enough and left the viewers in confusion that whether Anushka's character is of the innocent victim or the Devil Incarnate. We have seen Anushka as a funny ghost in Phillauri but this time she is going to thrill us with her spooky character in Pari. The movie is directed by debutant Prosit Roy.

Talking about the horror genre, Anushka stated, " If I tell you Pari is a love story, you will be surprised. But it is. Love stories also don’t work at times, but there are lesser examples to make here. So you can say horror mein aisa hota hai. This genre isn’t one that has been tried-and-tested. I believe it’s got an untapped potential. India watches a lot of horror and it’s an interesting space. Horror doesn’t always have to be about ghosts coming out of closets. It’s a theme. It’s the treatment and that’s what is exciting. This genre has not been explored too well in Bollywood, which is why I got into this. I want people to always expect the unconventional from me."

The film co-producer Prernaa Arora said "‘Pari’ is not like the usual horror films in India with creaking doors, ear-shattering background score and crashing chandeliers. This is a totally different take on the spooky theme. The horror is so organically introduced into everyday life that audiences will be stunned".

She further added, "Audiences will get to see Anushka like never before. She has played a funny ghost before (in ‘Phillauri’). In ‘Pari’, she is something else. I don’t think any actress in the world has played this kind of a chilling character."
