“Any contribution we can make to the beautiful art of theatre is more than welcome,” says actor Divya Dutta

The theatre artists extend their unending support to Zee theatre’s fundraising initiative for the benefit of the community

Sometime silver linings are drawn instead of found. The pandemic has brought about a profound sense of gratitude for the little things among people across the world, rekindling their desire to make a difference to their communities. Zee Theatre’s fundraising initiative in partnership with the Give India Foundation is one such example, as it garners the consistent support of artists across the board. As they unite and urge contributions for theatre industry’s support staff and technicians.

Renowned theatre artists like Neena Gupta, Divya Dutta, Anupam Kher, Makarand Deshpande, Rakesh Bedi and Aahana Kumra have joined Zee Theatre in its quest for funds. Popular film and stage actor Divya Dutta believe that the present crisis serves as an opportunity to build back stronger. “I think it’s very important to find strength in the little things right now and not be discouraged at all. I am more than happy to do my bit for this wonderful initiative by Zee Theatre,” she says.

While Dutta reconciles that things don’t seem upbeat at the moment, she is certain that normalcy will return soon. “I think even though things seem like they’re going downhill right now, any contribution we can make to the beautiful art of theatre is more than welcome. It's an art form that has sustained for years and will only continue to grow and serve as a realistic portrayal of society with unique stories,” the actor assures.

Zee Theatre along with these theatre stalwarts have created a special video to enable people to donate, for which screenwriter, lyricist and actor Amitosh Nagpal has written a stirring poem. The campaign video is running on Tata Sky Theatre, Airtel Spotlight, Dish TV and D2H Rangamanch Active.

Veteran playwright, actor and director Makarand Deshpande has also extended his support to the initiative. “For many of us, theatre is what made us. Even after so many years, the wooden stage on which we flaunt our craft still excites and deepens our sense of belonging to this art form. It is only natural that in this crisis, we stand by those affected and do our bit to help them through. I appreciate Zee Theatre for spearheading this unique initiative and the gesture has my whole-hearted support,” he passionately states.

Zee Theatre’s #ForTheLoveOfTheatre campaign is now live. All you have to do is give a missed call on ‘9595673673’ and you will receive a link to make your donation.
