I have never liked attending marriage receptions, including my own. incidentally, April 16 is my 32nd wedding anniversary ) . But I have had to attend many marriages because I couldn't work as a film journalist without attending marriages at least three or four times in a year. And some of them were genuinely what are now called big fat wedding. But never has fear and insecurity being a part of wedding like it is increasingly growing today - Ali Peter John

The first big Bollywood wedding I attended was the wedding of Rishi Kapoor with Neetu Singh. It looked like the entire Bollywood had taken a holiday on June 3 1980 the day of the reception.

The crowd of celebrities at the reception at RK Studios had become uncontrollable and all the Kapoors headed by Raj Kapoor had to take control of the situation and they literally beat up any one who they felt was a gate crasher and even when the scene grew violent Raj Kapoor did not ask for any security help from the police . There was no police bandobast expect for the security staff of RK Studios and wedding went off peacefully....

The most lovable star of Bollywood , Vinod Mehra married for the first time when he took Meena, the sister of well-known producer S S Broca, as his wife. The entire Sun N Sand Hotel was packed to capacity with stars and more stars and there was a large crowd of star - gazers and onlookers as one big star after another walked in after getting out of their posh cars, but there was no police security and there was not even a single skirmish till the reception over.

Rajesh Khanna and Dimple had only what can be called a dream marriage with every road and every gully from Carter Road to Samudra Mahal in Juhu was like a sea of humanity . There was singing , dancing and playing of every kind of instrument, but there was no report of a any kind of unruly scene anywhere and there was no sign of any kind of major police bandobast .

And Shammi Kapoor's daughter Kanchan married Ketan,the only son of Manmohan Desai. They had their reception at the Army Club in Colaba . And together with a stars coming in, there were also trucks of liquor flowing in.

A drunk Raj Kapoor had a war of words with me because he believed or some one told him that I would be reporting the story about liquor flowing into Army Club which was a respected area and where outside liquor was prohibited from coming in . I pacified the wild Raj Kapoor ( what guts I had ! ) and after this little accident , there was just entertainment and happiness flowing all through the night .....

I have a vey good reason to remember all this happy and peaceful weddings and receptions. The air is full of the wedding and the reception to follow for Ranbir Kapoor and Alia ( the press has started referring to them as ralia ).

And hectic preparations are being made at both the houses of Ranbir and Alia . The ceremonies got off to an auspicious start with Neetu Kapoor and Mahesh Bhatt leading their families to perform a Ganpati pooja at Ranbir's present house "Vastu" which is also the place where Jakie Shroff lives with his family. The area around "Vastu", the RK House in Chembur and Rishi kapoor's bungalow ' Krishna Raj" ( which is being rebuilt ) and Alia's house have better lit up . Guests from all over India and even abroad are arriving for the big day and even the city of Mumbai which is also known as the city of dream is also preparing itself to celebrate the big day .

But what is extremely difficult to understand is the extremely tight security all over. The entire compound area has been covered up with thick cloth so that the photographers and the press that has no been invited does not even get the glimpse of what is happening in the place where the wedding is taking place. Police vans are making round the clock dekhos around "Vastu" and all the other places associated with what could be the last big wedding in the Kapoor khandaan .

More than two hundred bouncers have been put on active duty and more are expected to join this force . There is talk about drones also being used and every guest to be provided with individual security .

Looking at all this scary security, one veteran filmmaker living near "Vastu" was heard grumbling,. " Ye shaadi ki tayaari ho rahi hai,ya teesri mahayudh ki ?"
