When I saw the film 'Pink' without any great expectations, I was suddenly awakened by the talents of a young actress whose name I didn't know till then - ALI PETER JOHN

It was supposed to be an out an out Amitabh Bachan, but this new actress had made gallant attempts to steal the thunder from the star of the millennium and had succeeded.

Today , so many years later the film Pink is remembered more for the powerful performance of the actress in the limited scenes she had and is an example to show that the time for actresses to stand in the sun and shine has almost arrived. The actress was Taapsee Pannu.

An actress like her could have easily being forgotten after that one performance, but it was that one performance that showed her the potential she had and which if she had explored herself , she would reach a sky of her own.

And all the positive forces joined hands with her and led her from playing one powerful character after another and gradually , the industry, the critics and even the audience realized that the name Taapsee Panuu in the credits of a film guaranteed a grand show of extraordinary talent.

Just for the record, Taapsee played interesting charachters in films like Badla in which she teamed up with Amitabh againa and did not let him steal the show from her, Naam Shabana,Saand ki Aankh which saw her in another power packed performance and Mulk with Rishi Kapoor , a film which may not have received the respect it deserved now but which will be remembered for many years to come.

It had now become clear that Taapsee revelled in playing women powered characters and it was with 'Thappad' that she established herself as an actress who was to leave her mark on hindi films for many more years to come.

And soon the audience will see her in 'Haseen Dilruba' and feel that the actress who has only played powerful roles will surely play a more powerful role in it. She will have to be good because she has no other alternate.
