Austrian Embassy Launches a Comic Book in Collaboration with Lotpot Comics Character Motu & Patlu

LOTPOT is one of India's most famous and popular comic series. The most beloved characters of this comic series are Motu and Patlu, who experience all sorts of adventures together.

The Austrian Cultural Forum of the Austrian Embassy New Delhi together with the editors and team members of the LotPot Publication envisaged to publish two special versions of this fun-frolic comic series in English and in Hindi.

In these special editions Motu and Patlu along with Dr. Jhatka and Ghasitaram travel to two beautiful cities in Austria - Vienna and Salzburg, which are now available also digitally on the website of the Austrian Cultural Forum New Delhi https://www.bmeia.gv.at/acf-new-delhi/./.

This comic-series focuses primarily on “Learn with Fun” about the two cities of Austria.

Utmost care has been taken by the Austrian Cultural Forum and Lotpot team to impart information about Austria to the readers of all age groups.

Initiative has been taken to teach basic German language along with the details of the Geographical, Touristic sites and locations of these two famous cities of Austria.

In order to reach out to the wider audience common languages namely English and Hindi have been used for these two versions of the comics.

Also, the cultural as well as the culinary aspects of the two countries have been imbibed through the adventures of Motu Patlu and other characters of this comic.

Motu ensures that he does not miss his favorite dish “samosa” in Austria, the urge of which makes him discover famous Austrian dish “Salzburger Nockerl”. The idea behind it is not only to introduce the dishes but also how it relishes the taste buds irrespective of its geographical location and origin.

Our readership will also get to learn German while reading this fun-filled comics series.

Both the versions of this comic series were officially launched on March 4, 2022 by H.E. Mrs Katharina Wieser, Ambassador of Austria, Mr P.K. Bajaj owner of the publication, Mr Matthias Radosztics, Minister (Plenipotentiary) and Mrs Christine Mukherjee, Director of the Austrian National Tourist office in India, Dr Michael Wieser Much, husband of Ambassador of Austria and Mr Sumanta Kar, General Secretary of SOS Children’s Village.

Also present during the occasion were special guests – Children of the SOS Children’s Village, Choristers of the Mozart Choir of India (an initiative of the Austrian Cultural Forum) and other dignitaries as well as Diplomats of different Embassies.

Her Excellency Mrs Katharina Wieser, Ambassador of Austria said, "The initiative of the famous comic figures of the Lotpot series Motu Patlu visiting Austria introduces different aspects of Austrian culture to Indian readers in a playful and educative way in an entertaining medium. This will inspire learning and exploring about both nations at the same time."

Both the publications are free of cost and were distributed to the guests present attending the event.
