‘Batla House’ Is Also A Love-Story With Intense Marital Emotions”_ John Abraham

Chaitanya  Padukone

Beneath that hunky rugged fun-loving exterior of John Abraham, there also exists a passion to either produce or act in  meaningful, socially relevant or patriotic movies. Right from Vicky Donor, Madras Café, Parmanu or the recent Satyameva Jayate and the latest being the gripping action thriller ‘Batla House’ ( based on the real-life episode that took place during 2008 in Delhi) directed by the talented Nikkhil Advani. Where John is cast as the daredevil senior cop Sanjeev Yadav who is on a mission to eliminate the terrorists and is paired opposite the charmingly pretty Mrunal Thakur ( of ‘Super 30’ fame) who plays his wife. Curiously enough, John is euphoric instead of being  jittery about Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer ‘Mission Mangal’ releasing on the same day ( Aug 15) as his own ‘Batla House’. Enthuses John, “ The best part is two very credible well-made movies both with a patriotic undercurrent, yet with contrasting subjects are coming together. The ‘winner’ is the audience who gets to choose or maybe watch both the amazing path-breaking entertaining movies and enjoy the long weekend which includes the I-Day national holiday followed by the Parsi New Year holiday on Saturday,” smiles the macho actor John who shares the emotional track of his movie.  “The film is not only about how the Batla House encounter went ‘wrong’ , the aftermath, but also highlights  an engaging love-story and a marital crisis and also the sacrifices made by dedicated cops. The day the super-cop Yadav goes for his encounter mission, his wife threatens to ‘leave him’ because she feels he is ‘married to the country’ . That makes him goes into that terrorist-zone under that nagging emotional stress and later the wife realizes her wrong decision.  ‘Batla House’ is also an intense love-story and actress Mrunal Thakur as my wife ‘Nandita’  ( she plays a dynamic journalist)  has given a fantastic sensitive performance,” reveals John who will be playing a negative bad-guy in his upcoming movie ‘Mumbai Saga’ and a comic-centric role in ‘Pagalpanti’ .
