Senior yet evergreen versatile actress Zeenat Aman ( also called ‘Babusha’) will bring in her 68th birthday today with her sons and close family friends. Known for her emotional sensitivity, the zestful Zeenat has rarely media-hyped her own private Bday celebrations. Work-wise, the former beauty-queen madame Aman has been shooting for illustrious  filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama “Panipat” scheduled to release on December 6.  The otherwise reclusive Aman, who has stayed away from the  movie-camera and studio lights in recent times will have a special appearance in the film where she will essay the feisty character of Sakina Begum.  It is believed that Sakina led the province of Hoshiyarganj and lived within the confines of her kingdom, away from the politics of the region. She played an important part in the battle of Panipat when the Peshwas turned to her for help, a statement from the makers read. “It is an absolute honour and a fan moment to be directing Zeenat-ji. There are What is most fascinating about her is her humility despite all the stardom,” Gowariker gushed.

Not many are aware that Ashutosh has worked with Zeenat as a co-actor in Anant Balani’s 1989 mystery film “Gawaahi” .The film  which features Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt, is produced by Sunita Gowariker in association with Rohit Shelatkar’s Vision World. This senior film-correspondent has had the privilege of personally knowing and interacting with ‘Zeenie-baby’, as she is fondly nick-named over the past three decades. The  music-savvy and agile dancer  Zeenat has contributed a fond tribute to legendary composer-singer R D Burman in my memoirs book R D BurMania . Interestingly, Zeenat has dozens of chartbusting trending retro-songs picturised on her either solo or with her screen-hero  which are composed by R D Burman right from ‘‘Dum Maro Dum’ , Chura Liya’,  Pyar Mein Dil Ki Maar Di Goli’, ‘O Meri Soni’ and ‘Aapke Kamre Mein Koi Rehta Hai’ , ‘Ruk Jaana O Jaana Humse’
