Bees Saal Baad-Hrithik Roshan Remains ‘Kaho Naa Super-Star Hai ‘

Twenty years have flown past—ever since the benchmark musical mega-hit ‘Kaho Naa Pyar Hai’ starring tough-dude Hrithik Roshan and charming Ameesha  Patel released, yet  Hrithk continues to be the phenomenal dancer and super-star-macho actor  . As was evident in his last released YRF banner super-hit movie ‘War’.   When I first met Hrithik Roshan  at the music release of ‘KNPH’ I remember  Rishi Kapoor and Salman Khan had come as celeb-guests and they both complimented Hrithik for being super-star-material  even the movie release.  Not just that, they even highly praised the fabulous music ( Rajesh Roshan). The proud producer-director father Rakesh Roshan beamed with euphoric joy with their kind words, as financially a lot was at stake.  When the movie released Hrithik was quite confident, yet he was initially nervous and anxious because it was his debut and he was playing a double role.   A day after the release, ( on Jan 14, 2000) girls were swooning and going hysterical over Hrithik’s macho charisma. Like it had happened with ( the first super-star) Rajesh Khanna hyper-craze.  Excited members of theatre audiences were seen flinging currency coins at the screen when agile Hrithik performed his dance with iconic hand-movements and face-fanning to ‘Ekk Pal Ka  Jeena’ ( choreographed by Farah Khan). The fans-frenzy was unstoppable  When I asked Hrithik about the hysterical craze. in the second week, of ‘KNPH release, he modestly  reacted to  his overnight  mega-popularity with  ” too much too soon” !    Eventually, Kaho Naa.. Pyar Hai’ was added to and listed in the Guinness Book of World Records 2002 edition for winning the most number of awards ( 92 Awards ! )  for a movie. Cut to year 2020.  The unassuming Hrithik has reacted yesterday to the news-media with, “ Just can’t believe it’s been 20 years already. I still feel the same, like it was on day one, as an actor. The past 20 years has been a hugely enriching journey and I am immensely grateful to my loyal fans and audiences for their unconditional love and loyalty all thru”
