At 23, I’ve been in love with Bollywood for over a decade (not considering childhood because those were the days when children were not in love with their phones or tv screens). Nevertheless, a decade-long ‘ek-Tarfa Pyaar’ is a big deal and that’s exactly why I am writing this article—for the love of Hindi cinema.
Bollywood has given cinephiles infinite fantasies and the one I’ve been dealing with for quite some time is the constant search for the "perfect guy". We can’t deny the fact that at some point in our lives we have wanted a Raj from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or an Aditya Kashyap from Jab We Met or an Arjun Singh from Namastey London in our lives.
Therefore, we decided to bring to you the most loveable, dateable and enviable Bollywood characters to help you shortlist the qualities you’re looking for in your partner. If you plan on being single, this could be a good GK piece for you too.
1. Raj Malhotra, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
I have an option of ranting about him endlessly or just letting it be. I choose the latter because the name says it all.
P.S Men and boys, it still isn't too late, you could take tips from him.
2. Aman Mathur, Kal Ho Na Ho
Words and words were all he had to take her heart away, and he did. Aman Mathur, whatever lifetime it may be, it's a YES from our side!
3. Sqn Leader Veer Pratap Singh, Veer-Zara
Humming 'jaanam dekh lo mit gayi dooriyan' and simultaneously wishing to be Zara!
4. Nikhil Bharadwaj, Hasee to Phasee
This scene made us fall in love with him even more. He got a chance to mend a mistake and he did.
5. Aditya D Kashyap, Jab We Met
Had a crush on him then, it still persists and shall always remain. An example of selfless love and not sulking because the girl friend-zoned you, rather doing all that you can to bring happiness back in her life, to eventually winning over the girl—Aditya Kashyap is all kinds of Goals!
6. Kabir, Ki & Ka
Breaking stereotypes like a boss and finding happiness in what he loved doing, Kabir knew what he wanted from life and wouldn't let anybody change that about him.
7. Jai Singh Rathore, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
For all the times your best friend becomes the boy you've fallen in love with. Best feeling ever! Also, referring to each other as 'rats (Imran Khan) n meow(Genelia d'souza)' became the new slang for all teenage lovers!
8. Veer Singh, Love Aaj Kal
Not the stalker kinds but a man who believed in his love and waited for it because of all the things in life, love isn't something you must give up on.
9. Arjun Ballu Singh, Namastey London
One couldn't ask for a better man—patriotic, loyal, dignified and funny AF. No malice, just pure Love.
10. Vanraj, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
The epitome of a perfect husband because he taught us love isn't about being selfish. He loved her enough to let her go.
11. Aarav Ruparel, Hamari Adhuri Kahaani
When her happiness is your own. Aarav Ruparel taught us what true love actually is and if one wants, love and work can go hand in hand without compromising on either.
12. Akash, Anjaana Anjaani
He might be immature, mercurial, and instinctive but he knew the real meaning of love and it had nothing to do with his own desires and happiness. It was always about HER.
13. Flight Lt. Ajay Rathod, Rang De Basanti
Just The Perfect Man. (I need a tissue RIGHT NOW)
14. Raj Chopra, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai
Hot and handsome and not self obsessed. Wow! we had a deal there.
15. Prem, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun
The quintessential lover Boy. Naughty, childish and so lovable!
We've things sorted now (almost)! How about you? It isn't really impossible to find one of them, or is it?
