Bharat Movie Review

Salman khan's latest venture, Bharat has released today and is receiving mixed reviews from all across. Salman Khan has kept the Eid weekend to himself yet again. The Ali Abbas Zafar directorial is a remake of the 2014 South Korean movie, Ode to My Father, and also stars Katrina Kaif, Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff, Sonali Kulkarni, Disha Patani and Nora Fatehi among others.

Story : Separated from his father and sister during the Indo-Pak partition in 1947 as a child, Bharat decides to dedicate his entire life to keeping the promise he’d made to his missing father. Will he be able to find his father and sister once again? Watch the movie as we don't want to reveal the plot for you.

Performance :  Whichever film stars Salman Khan as lead works only on the brand of Salman Khan. Salman Khan as Bharat plays a balancing act. He infuses emotions with ample fun Salman elements that will get his diehard fans to whistle.

Katrina Kaif is brave and honest enough to make the first move on him. She was impressive even in Zero and Bharat is Katrina’s best acting part till date. Her chemistry with Salman feels natural. But what comes as up a surprise is Sunil Grover who has outplayed his character. Grover does compete justice to his well-written role and deserves more such significant parts. Disha is in short yet beautiful and intact character.

Direction and Editing :  Ali on the contrary, plays a balancing act in the film. He makes you feel good about your nation but sometimes it falls flat on the face.  While he manages to keep you hooked despite his complex source material and misplaced songs, Bharat has too many things happening at once and too many time leaps.

Music  : The soundtrack of the music is already hit, with some of the songs already looped in at events and concerts. For music, Bharat can surely have a 4 star out of 5.

To conclude, Bharat is well-intentioned, entertaining  but it's way too long. The fact that it tries a bit too hard to prove that, is its problem. If the movie would have been 30 mins short, the movie would have been way far better. For me, it's a 3.5/5
